WE DID IT!!

We FINALLY took delivery of our new Keystone Montana 5th Wheel yesterday (see pix) and stayed last night at a campground in northeastern PA.  The Montana met and exceeded all our expectations!  The temps dipped below 20 degrees and we were toasty warm all night.  A few questions did arise and we figured with all the expertise on this forum that this is the place to ask!  Our 5er has an "artic package", so what kind of winterizing is needed?  We will be storing it in our driveway and hope to make a few weekend trips if the weather isn't too bad.  Also, while parked in the driveway should we be able to use the propane furnace with 12v power? Thanks for all your help!

Yes, your furnance works off 12VDC and will work whether or not your rig is on 120VAC power.  That said, unless you have onboard solar power, it will also run your batteries down.  Therefore, you should rig shore power to your trailer.  An ordinary 15 amp circuit will do just fine to keep your batteries up -- you are not running the AC or your microwave.    Just get an adapter plug for your RV power cord and run a heavy duty extension cord from your garage.  Piece of cake.  8)

Don't know how level your driveway is, but rv refrigerators want to be fairly level or they could be damaged. If you're reasonably comfortable walking back and forth in the rig, the fridge should be happy too.

Montana is a heck of a trailer - you are going to love it.

Your arctic package really has little to do with winterization - it's intended to keep you comfortable inside with the heat running.  You still need to be concerned about exposed water lines, e.g. drain valves, city water inlet (and nearby stuff like the water pup), ice maker water line (if so equipped), etc.  All these things can freeze if the rig is just sitting in the driveway with no heat.
