What are the quality Class C's?

There are certainly different quality levels of people... However, given the low quality of people designing and manufacturing RVs in the US, one should expect to get a low quality RV and just plan on refining it themselves to their desired quality level.
Good point, in Australia designers and manufacturers of RV's are required to graduate finishing school before the industry will even consider employment. There's nothing worse than a low quality American RV cabinet builder who doesn't know the difference in a soup and a dessert spoon.

we didn't want to become another member of the more money than brains big bloated pig club either.
I'm the one that started this thread and did not expect this reply as a newbie. Not good. I'm a retired Air Force officer (Chaplain) who spent many years, along with many other veterans, serving our nation so we, our families and our grandchildren ... & you and yours, too ... can enjoy the blessings of democracy and free enterprise. I didn't wish to get the things I've got ... or worse yet, expect someone to give them to me, free ... I worked for them along with my wife and family. Then again, some of us have served in places where you don't have to be bothered by "pigs" like us. May I suggest you take your next vacation to Iraq, Afghanistan, Cuba or Bosnia. Perhaps you will like it happier there. God bless America. I won't carry this kind of conversation any further. Let us get back to the question at hand. Thanks for all your help so far. It is really helping me!

Thank you for ur remarkable service to our country. You have done an amazing job of service. Keep asking those good questions. I was looking for an RV a few years ago and the people in this forum really helped me zero in on what was best for our family…for our particular needs.

When buying any used RV, unless you are an expert on all parts of the motorized RV, you would do well to get it inspected by a certified, pre-purchase RV inspector.

This is going to be difficult to find. You might find it in a Lazy Daze or Born Free RV but Born Free closed in 2017 and Lazy Daze in 2022. Either of them will be difficult to find.
We did what you are doing a year ago. We ended up buying a 2001 Winnebago Itasca Spirit 25’ for under $20,000. Would have happily spent more, but this was such a nice unit we decided to give it a go, as it certainly wasn’t going to break our bank account. It has the wood cabinets, stainless sink, the whole interior had just been redone with leather seats and new flooring and it had only 27, 790 miles. Since we have had it, we have: replaced water heater with gas/electric, had slide mechanism rebuilt, repaired minor plumbing issues, replaced fabric on awning, steering dampener and shocks. Added cost for these repairs was just under $5,000.
We decided to look at some newer ones, but just couldn’t find any with comparable quality with a floor plan we liked, so for now we are enjoying what we have.

If we ever did buy a newer unit, it would definitely be another Winnebago.

Just a couple of pics of our class c.

The best class C RV's are probably, Coach House, Phoenix Cruiser, Born Free, Lazy Daze, Winnebago.

Coach House and Phoenix Cruiser are all fiberglass units, Coach House being one huge shell, and Phoenix Cruiser being several large pieces put together. There is one other whose name escapes me right now. Edit: Chinook is the one I could not remember earlier. Bigfoot trailers and truck campers are fiberglass shells, but the motorhomes are not, and really are only on par with the Winnebago, but haven't been made since about 2008.
