My hubby laughs at me as we start to pack for any trip or campout. I always have hand work to take with me. So that is my question what do you take? I always take my watercolor kit, my embroidery kit, any crochet I am working on. The things that live in my van are a small hot glue gun, thick string and clippers for fairy house building, a sling shot set up, a notebook for my scribbling and journaling, a large bottle of bubbles and a kite, a couple decks of cards, a cribbage board and a chess set. If we are going to the beach a sandcastle kit. Also of course my phone for games and I hit the thrift store for 2,3,4 books. I love to cook so I have 1,2,3 fun to cook meals planned. I am an avid audio book person, and I am getting hubby into that to. I have a bike and kayaks, but that's not really a quiet at the spot work stuff.

So what about you what do you do/pack for your trips out.

What kind of RV do you have? I can tell you what we carry in our 36 ft class A motorhome. Others can tell you what they carry in their 40+ ft 5th wheel. But that information is irrelevant if you are traveling in a small class C or even smaller class B. Also it would be helpful if we knew how long you expect to be on the road.

It all depends upon where we are going and how long we'll be away from the house.

My wife is an avid reader. She has quite a collection of books (series type books). So she is never short of reading material.

Myself, I play the Harmonia, a Diatonic Accordion, and just this last year started playing the Dulcimer.

Our trips got longer and longer and now we are spending more time in Louisiana at a State Historic Site than we do at home. I do Plantation House tours, black smithing demonstrations, wood working demonstrations, and talk on life of the enslaved on the plantation. So, all of that requires a whole new crop of items I keep in the camper now ... books about Plantation life, historical Louisiana, black smithing, and historic wood working. I also have quite an array of period dated clothing stage for the early 1800's plantation life.

In addition, my wife still works full time (from the camper - a home office), so she has her necessary items for her employment.

Between all of this stuff, we are kept busy. No time to be bored.

When we are on the plantation, we are camped there for 2 to 4 months at a stretch. Gone are the days now of week-end campouts!

Your interests and needs do change as time marches on. Nothing wrong with that.

I don't have an RV I have a small homemade converted 35 yr old van. I love my ol' van and don't want anything bigger this van fits through the drive through at McDs. What you travel in is not the point. I am always curious about what folks do. Like I I pack lots hubby almost nothing but then he gets bored and bugs me...

Sounds like you know what you want to have fun

So that is my question what do you take?
Ham radio junk, this computer, my electric motorcycle, hiking stuff.

What I did NOT bring is a chair of any type. I have yet to sit around outside by my motorhome. However, I did buy one on this trip after being chewed out here when I went over to near the others to try to play with IBtripping's doggy.

Sorry, I should have guessed what you meant rather than respond to what you asked. By the way, most RVers would consider your van an RV.

Does he also get bored at home? I find I can do more on my RV trips than I can do at home. I cannot think of much I can do at home that I cannot do on these RV trips.

We both always have lots of ebooks with us, and we enjoy reading. Kevin usually brings his 3D printer and telescope. I can’t do handwork anymore, so I bring my sewing machine and a couple of projects. We also have a side by side that we enjoy driving on back roads. I almost always listen to audiobooks while sewing, and we frequently listen to audiobooks while driving. One of the reasons we got the bigger rig was to have more space for hobbies on long trips (3-4 months is normal for us).

When we used the rv for vacations we wouldnt take much. A few games or small things to give us something to do if we were stuck inside due to bad weather. Otherwise we were always doing something at the places we went and normally didnt do at home. A dutch oven was probably the #1 thing on the list.

For full timing we took more obviously. Unusual items for an rv were our aerogarden, pressure canner and canning supplies, and the xbox. For my wife it was the copper pot set, sewing machine, books, and craft supplies.

We bring all the normal stuff, chairs, blackstone, sun screen etc.
I was recently thinking about bringing my Bow and arrow archery kit. Also have a crossbow pistol type gadget. Is there any law that would prevent me from bringing that stuff across state lines???
Not sure that I would, at this point but just curious.
Safe travels and all the best.

Hubby gave me an archery set last year too but don't know if that would fit my tightly packed van or if I would be able to use it anywhere.
I used to do more with the sling shot oh I forgot hubby got a metal detector last yr for Xmas but he doesn't use it. I think if he had someone who know how he would...

I love to both sew and can 'stuff' but I make a huge mess when I do so not sure if I would want to do that mess....but then again I do love to make my own jam. And I like to make some of my own booze
