What is the strangest thing you have ever seen "camping" neighbors bring along for their vacation?

I used to think dog pens were odd when we first got into this, but, lordy, it is the NORM.

Camper pulls in, and out come the 15x15 dog pen fences.

Now they don't let the dogs pee and poop in there.

Instead, they bring them out and walk them to another site to pee or poop. They sometimes pick the poop up. Never the pee.

I ask why they don't let the dogs pee in pen?

We don't want that pee smell right outside the door.

Well, lady, NEITHER do I.

I lived in Castle Volturno Italy, Right on the Adriatic Sea in 1994-1997.

The Domitiana, the original road from Naples to Rome Italy was at the front of my housing complex. At one time that roadway way in Guiness book as one of the worlds most dangerous road ways.

Italy, Everyone goes to the beach camping for the entire month of August. It was at the end when 1000s of people left my sleepy 10 month a year area. Current times has turned into a very "Shady Area". Back in the day, a little wild but livable. Beautiful nature area.

Anyway back on topic, sort of.

Volkswagen Station wagon, Totally Stuffed with his beach life, not one spec of rubber on the rear tire. Rooster tail of spark shooting 40Ft behind the car. Guy cruising probably 50 mph? He looked at me like what am i looking at. Kept going!

Naples driving at the time was like entering a demolition derby. Crazy driving below the sanity line of Rome.
Very funny. I was in the Army and stationed in Naples for 3 years and in Italy for a total of six. I know exactly what you’re talking about. Most of the cars on the Domitiana near there were held together with duct tape. Italians are famously impatient too. I once saw 24 cars wide on a six lane wide road cause they didn’t want to wait. If you came to a full stop at a stop sign in Naples, you ran the risk of being bumped from behind! Ah, the good old days :)

“Skooliepalzooza” finished a couple of weeks ago near Ehrenburg. AZ. This would be a middle of the road build, nothing exceptional at all. Of course there were also numerous posts about mechanical issues with the busses people had. I always wonder about the weight capacity of some of the Skoolie conversions; they seem to prefer using using wood and stone and even cast iron stoves!

We were camped in Chattanooga, TN (actually Rossville, Ga) at a campground that we frequent because of the great Riverwalk Park hiking/biking/walking trail along the river. One day a very small "pod" type camper setup across from us and they put out a solar outdoor shower. I kind of scratched my head and thought is was pretty unusual, since their camp spot was like 25' away from the bathhouse/restrooms building.

I was in the Army also. Naples was crazy. Driving very unlike the states. You had to pay the guy "Guarding" the cars at the outdoor markets to ensure your car was not going to be broken into.

Best order of business was to buy a beater car, and a Crash Helmet and get after it.

Actually I bought a Fiat A112 Junior. It was like a bath tub with a steering wheel in it. Never wanted to have a crash in it for sure!!! I did unitized collison repair, so I was well versed in sheet metal repair. I gave a friend a case of heineken beer and I traded for his somewhat dented front door.

Did all the sheet metal on that door and the car and painted at work one day, Laquer, Wet sanded and buffed with Marino's borrowed buffer and pad. I wish I had pictures of the car. Even the guy that sold it to me wanted it back.

Marino worked NATO, Italian Air Force and he had been at the Transmit site for years. We had data coming in over the phone lines and we pumping it out to ships in the Adriatic sea... Big old 10,000 watt transmitters that had a final amplifier weighed 50 LBs. We ran them about 1000 watt. No parts, just broken whole transmitters in a building where they got the old ones out of a site closing in Gibraltar Spain.

So your 100% right. I asked Marino, 50 year oid Italian" why nobody stopped at red lights in Naples Italy?

His answer was, If they Stopped at the Red lights they would be supporting the Government, and that is why nobody did it.

For sure the only light in Naples you did not run or roll thru was the Green ones/ Those are the ones that would get you killed. I saw some actual Impact crashed there that still mess with my head.

At that time the Italian Gov had changed hands many times due to corruption. I don't follow it at all now days. I saw some YT Castle Volturno was over ran by African mafia and the old Hotels that had families in 94-97 now empty swimming pools filled with discarded needles. Crazy.

Marino always brought me home made wine. I did a wedding for his family in my Ponitiac Grand Am. He loved that car. I took them thru the home town. Marino in Passenger side thought he was going to melt my horn wires. Bride and Groom in My Back Seat Covered In Flowers!

Great memory. Car Smelled Great for along time after. The days before digital. Memories only in my Mind. Great 8 hour Million course dinner aferwards too. I was pissed I had to buy a suit but it was a great day I will always remember.

James Island County Park near Charleston; saw a camper bring a large stone and brick wood fired pizza oven on a two axle trailer with its own wood supply. There was someone that knew true pizza!

I saw the first pic at Q in 2016. I saw the second one at Q in 2018.

Larry,
The second picture in your post is from the back door of my Stacker trailer and has the Huey that I flew in Viet Nam on it.

I used to get lots of looks and waves from people, (especially VN Vets) as they went passing by.
