I know one of the slide outs is powered by a hydraulic pump. It's not where the manual says it should be, and I've not worried about it. Doing some maintenance today, had the generator pulled out, and looked down to the right of the generator (road side) and there on the frame I see what looks like a hydraulic pump and reservoir. Not anywhere near where the manual says the slide out pump should be.

Anyone have an idea what this pump is for?

Thanks.

Leveling jacks perhaps?

Easy way to find out: have somebody run the jacks and/or the slide(s) and see which runs this unit.

A 42 foot class A with no chassis leveling system?

I can't imagine putting that thing up on blocks to level it.

How long have you had it?

I'm betting it's for the slide. Never heard of a hydraulic backup brakes/steering system for engine failure.
I have..Very common on large gas vehicles with Hydro Boost brake systems.

If you drive a gasser with Hydro boost. .Push brake pedal when engine off you will hear the pump kick in

As an aside, does/do your hydraulic slide/s deploy and retract evenly side to side? Ours didn’t when we bought the rig (2012 rig bought in 2020). Had MANY techs try to address the issue (hate to think how much we spent). FINALLY, in October 2024–last year, some shop in NC figured out the problem, and fixed it. There’s a valve, right in the neighborhood of pump, that has the job of equalizing the hydraulic fluid flow between left and right ram. Same valve controls both our hydraulic slides.
Took a lot of time and money to finally get that fixed.
