I have a 2020 Shasta 21ck travel trailer and on the outside there is a place labeled Solar but I can find no sign of a solar charge controller inside nor is there and panels on the roof. Does anyone know what this plug-in is really for and what it does

Description says "solar panel prep" which implies there is wiring in place from that connector to the vicinity of the batteries. Adding portable panels, a controller and hookup is up to you.

thank, you I will try to find that wiring, so where should the controller go and is the output from the controller that is plugged into the solar input plug

Small solar panels, e.g. 20-50 watts, wouldn't even need a controller because the max current is only a trickle anyway. Typically those solar prep set-ups have light duty wire, maybe 16 or 18 gauge, so are limited in the size panel they can handle anyway. If you need a controller, it could be external to that plug, or at the other end just ahead of where the wire connects to the battery. What ever is convenient.
