Is it normal for my trailer wheels to tilt in opposite directions and put extra stress on the tires during a sharp turn?

If I understand your question correctly, you have a trailer with tandem axles?
A certain amount of ‘tire roll’ is normal, but make sure you have the proper tires on the rims, and correct amount of inflation in the tires. Also be sure the trailer is not overloaded beyond the weight rating of the tires.

Yes, the trailer wheels don't pivot so they're dragged sideways during a turn. Not a problem but if I'm backing into a campsite and they wind up in this position when parked I will relieve the tension by pulling straight forward for a couple of feet so the tires can straighten out.

Yes, when backing into a spot you will see each tire twist and that will look odd, but normal.

It is especially noticeable if your trailer has the MORyde or Timbren rubber shear suspension. They are designed to accommodate that type of sideways movement common to trailer axles.

Yep, this is also the reason trailer tires should always be inflated to sidewall stated pressure. i once watched a guy pulling a TT make a spot turn in a wide street in Van, TX. The blacktop was so hot and sticky he rolled 2 tires off the rims, one on each side of the trailer.
