We're doing a three-week road trip through WI, the U.P., down through MI, then back home to Chicago. The highlights for us are:
  • Door County, WI - Staying at Peninsula State Park
  • One night at Harvest Host - Helene's Hilltop Orchard. We are very luck to time it to one of their three farm-to-table chef dinners!
  • Apostle Islands - We're doing an adventure race on a Saturday, recovering on Sunday :), then we will spend part of a day Monday kayaking sea caves and shipwrecks
  • Mackinac Island - Managed to find a late booking for just one night on July 3rd. We love the island, but it's gotten very expensive. We'll explore Sioux Ste. Marie and other sites while in the area.
  • Next is the drive across the Mackinac bridge... my wife is not looking forward to this!
  • Visiting our daughter and her fiancé who are in Midland, MI. Timing works out so my wife will be at the dress fitting.
  • Over to Ludington, MI for a few days, then back to Chicago
We've visited many of these areas, so let me know if anyone has questions.

We are currently working our way up to Michigan, we have a camp host position at Aloha State Park for July and September. We will be hosting at Wilderness State Park in August.
Going to visit a few friends on the way up.

My next trip will be in my junky Y2k Class C motorhome to Berlin Ichthyosaur State Park, NV and from there your guess is probably about as good as mine. That will be in a couple of weeks or so.

And after that trip, I will take my 2022 Class A to the Lake Shasta Area. I will then probably be in an RV park somewhere if I cannot find anything else.

Any suggestions?

As former Wisconsinite campers, Peninsula was one of our favorites. We especially liked the Weborg Campground. Verrrrrry hard to get into.

Back in Post #19 we we're planning a trip to the Midwest, but RV leveler problems forced us to cancel this trip.

However, we're now going on a West Coast Circle Tour . . .

Mr. Murphy can be a mean old tyrant at times, too.
Wow, it's like I had ESP. I've posted elsewhere on The Forum about the problems with my DP during our Spring trip, like $25K worth, and our whole 2026 travel plans being cancelled. Hoping to salvage new bookings towards fall with a different RV.
Wilderness State Park in August.
One of our favorite parks! Don't forget to stop at the trading-post general store about 6 miles outside the park entrance, pizzas are pretty good!

And, Zulu, that is one heck of an itinerary! Good Luck on what should be an incredible trip.

We're gonna start with a run up to Burlington, Vt and then a few days at Ocean city, NJ then a couple of days in Lancaster Pa and then a few days in Mystic seaport, ct. The rest will be spur of the moment trips. ;)
Safe travels and all the best.

We just started our summer trip. Left from Phoenix, went to Carlsbad State beach, and head up to our eventual destination in Montana before heading back south. Going to take 3 months to do it and make several stops visiting friends. Unfortunately we just learned that an old buddy of mine is in hospice in Idaho, so that may alter the trip a bit.

So, towards the end of February 2026, I took a trip that included a week in Las Vegas at the KOA Sam's town and then went to California for a week at the Orangeland RV park and visited Disneyland for the 70th. Then in April, I went to Myrtle Beach for some sun, sand, beach and golf. I stayed at Pirateland RV family campground for a week. Now I'm heading back to Biloxi MS for more sun, sand, beach and golf. Then in August its the FROG rally. I haven't decided where I'm going in July, but I'm really thinking of Minneapolis or Colorado for a baseball game.
