Hello,

I am in the market for a bigger SUV and would like to get one which can be flat towed behind a Class C RV.
Does anyone have recommendations?

Thank you

2017 GMC Acadia (fwd version only) can be flat towed, along with the Chevy badged version. Not sure about the newer ones.

Most Jeeps with a transfer case can be towed.

There's a list published somewhere of everything towable.

FMCA puts out a list each year of vehicles that can be flat towed. Good place to start. Note the specific model and options are important, not just the basic brand. For example, some Jeep Grand Cherokees are flat towable and some aren’t.

You may find that larger SUVs weigh more than you can safely tow with a class C.

Explorers start at 4,800 pounds.

Honda CRVs are one of the most popular toweds but 2014 is that last year they can be towed 4 down

Ford Edge, selected models only, can be towed.

Most any rear wheel drive can be flat towed if you install a drive shaft disconnect. The person I bought my tow dolly from had a driveshaft disc. on his Lexus SUV. I have a drive shaft disconnect on my Nissan Frontier.

That would put you into the diesel pusher realm. Gas class A's and C's are pretty much tapped out as they sit.

I've wondered how hard it would be to adapt locking hubs like are used on the front axle of 4WD vehicles to a front wheel drive car. Unlock the hubs, put the transmission in Park and you're good to tow 4 down.

For toads of such size, you'd need a Super C motorhome. Not a class C.
Not necessarily. He can probably handle a Tahoe or similar with its curb weight somewhere around 5500-5800 lbs. Class C's on the E450 van chassis have a hefty GCWR, typically 22,000 lb. With a GVWR of 14,500, that gives a minimum tow capacity of 7500 lbs.

I would think that you would need to find them made to fit the vehicle you have. In looking at them online, all that I find specify what vehicles they are compatible with. I have a feeling that it could be done with most front wheel drive vehicles but there isn't anyone who makes them. Unfortunately the one company who made modification kits for towing has stopped producing such kits due to a limited market.
