Just bought a '04 Suzuki XL-7 that has a factory installed base plate. I was wondering what tow bar fits it. Is it universal?

Thanks

I seriously doubt if the base plate was factory installed. Maybe dealer installed, but not factory. I owned a 2000 and a 2003 model of those and none came with base plates. It is a fairly expensive accessory for a very limited audience, and no, it is not universal. There are, however, adapters that can make Roadmaster brackets work with Blue Ox or vice versa. Demco has adapters that connect to either Blue Ox or Roadmaster base plates as well.

If you can post a photo of the base plate connector, we can probably identify it.

There really aren't any Suzuki dealerships anymore. The person I bought it from bought it new from the dealer. It was a fully loaded model with all the options. He didnt request the plate and he doesn't have an RV and has never towed the vehicle, so Im assuming the dealer installed it.
I was able to take some pictures today. Maybe they can help.

So from what I read it's compatible with all Roadmaster tow bars. Is this correct? Any suggestions on a model of tow bar?

Choose a model that has an adequate tow rating. I'd suggest you buy an all-terrain model, which will make it easier to unhook on uneven ground. Either the Falcon all-terrain or the Sterling all-terrain models will work.

Do you have the side arms (labeled 15 and 16 in the installation instructions)? If not, you'll need to buy them separately.

So just to clarify, I have the XL baseplate and it's compatible with any Roadmaster tow bar. Once I replace these http://www.etrailer.com/Accessories-and-Parts/Roadmaster/C-000774.html , I can attach say, one of these:http://losangeles.craigslist.org/sgv/rvs/3643285255.html or one of these: http://inlandempire.craigslist.org/for/3645965433.html
or this: http://inlandempire.craigslist.org/rvs/3594523116.html
Just want to make sure I got this figured out before I start buying stuff.
