Who's the jerk, him or me?

The older I get the more I'm able to just let things go. I almost never beep my horn these day
I have you beat there. It has always seemed to me that most people (a term that often leaves me out, such as here) make a big deal out of unimportant & trivial BS.

As long as you all can be trusted not to rip anything off or cause any other type of harm or damage, you may all walk though my spot anytime, for any reason. Such as a shortcut or whatever.

But I still will not walk through any of yours, because I realize most people do have such a hangup. And I don't mind walking around, even if it's ten time as far.

He looks local and a woefully stereotyped good old boy,300 plus in a tanktop
So he's a redneck is what you're trying to say? I had no idea we in South Carolina had such a reputation but we have our share of rednecks, self included. What ever happened to conversation. All in the world you have to do is ask the man not to walk through your campsite and he would oblige. With his physical conditio0ning he needs to save all the steps he can. He may not be up on campground etiquette but he's not a villain or monster that set out to make your day miserable.

They say "you can't fix stupid" and that's true. But you also can't fix RUDE. Some people just have that innate ability to be exceptionally rude and there's no fixing it.

Every campground I have ever been to has rules saying not to do this so you are correct in being upset. If this guy has spent any time at all in campgrounds he has seen it at some point. I don't really think it matters that much if you say something to him or say something to management and they speak to him unless he is cutting across other sites as well. If yours is the only one he is doing it to then he will know you are the one that said something.

I have been to at least one (I can't think of a 2nd) park where there was a clear path between two sites for folks going to the "Facilities" but... as I said... I can't think of two.

If someone is "Mobility limited" I'd invite them to pass through my site. but for most able bodied folks... They get the jerk label.

I mean, what if they tripped over something of mine and now want to sue me? Or, if your dog is tied up
minding his own business when a stranger comes around the corner and startles him?

Looks like I am the only one who doesn't care.

I would let somebody else tell him/her, because I just would not make a big deal out of it.

Nope, I could care less if someone walks across the back of my campsite.

A few years ago at a FL state park someone reported me to the office for blocking a "path" to the bath house through my site with my car. They were forced to walk one site further to the sidewalk. When a host showed up and saw where I had parked, unintentionally blocking an opening in the trees, he laughed and said there wasn't even an obvious path there. He said he would remind the complainer about the rule against walking through someone else's site.

I have a BIG dog; he doesn't bark much, and he likes to just snooze in our site. But he also does NOT like when adults get to close to our site. With out a sound or a show of teeth he seems to get the message across. We have very little folks bugging us right now. Kids of course he loves and will sit at the edge of our space and wiggle in pure joy at kids climbing on him. We are pretty careful to have sites on the outside edge of campgrounds

On the other had I had to go around a guy's tent once that was set up somewhat in the path to the restrooms... a very obvious path with a sign and everything.....

That’s what we use to say at times. We’d say he does bite and will bite you and I will not be responsible. It usually worked. Other times we’d get management involved

I haven't had it happen very iften, but ironically it happened regularly in a National Park and the offender was a very well known hiker, back country camper known for all his camping experience. He would walk within a couple feet of our driver side to get to the rest room and if I were sitting by that side, inside, and he would look up and see me he would start speaking.

Gosh, maybe just tell them? "Would you please not walk through our campsite? We're here for peace and enjoyment and someone walking through is an un-needed distraction."

No different than renting a house with a yard. Would you be ok if someone walked through your yard?
If I could be sure the guy wasn't looking for trouble. Say a kid was playing ball and the ball went over the fence to my side. No problem when he goes to retrieve it.

IOW, it depends on the situation.

They all have the rule because "most people" make a big deal out of trivial BS.

Be careful you arent dismissing a concern because it doesnt bother you. You might miss learning about a valid concern you havent considered.

One reason i dont like it is because i have had things stolen and the more that are doing it the harder it is to know when i might get hit again. Just had a couple things stolen from the shed in back of my house

As I said, was in my bathroom standing as men do, when this guy was 2ft from my window. Shouldn't have to close curtains during the day. Wife is a bit creeped out. Both he and his adult son keep doing this. They are not handicapped, just lazy.
Not about to have a conversation with him, things aren't that way anymore. I'll mention it to the ranger when I leave.
I'm over it and moving on. Thanks.
