Why Are SD Card Prices So High Lately?

The largest one I use is a 64gb in my dashcam but I make sure it's a class 10 name brand. All others are 32gb. Music, file storage and maps for my Garmin GPS.

Good point. Beyond capacity the speed specs on any given card should be considered.

If the device says it will only support a specific size I’m found it’s because the microcontroller in the device can’t FORMAT anything larger. Here’s how I get around that.

Format the card on the device.
Remove the card and put it in a PC.
Using the drive partitioning utility of your choice expand the partition on the card to the maximum on the card.

I’ve used this method for dash cams, security cams, a loop pedal, older cameras and probably more.

I use EasusUS Partition Master Home Edition most of the time but there are many others. They can be found at www.majorgeeks.com. The only free software site I trust 99.97%.

There are other ways to format larger drives. I can format 64g drive on my Windows 7 computer using the diskpart command.
