Why Camera Snobs Hate Smartphones (and Why They’re Wrong)

I have both, I take 'snaps' with the cellphone, if I need to get serious then I use my Nikon with the appropriate lens.

Hopefully I'm not perceived as a camera snob.
Good grief no, Tom. The term refers to those who look down on phones' cameras because theirs are better, special, pricey, wonderful, above the peasants' grade, etc., none of which describes you. Snobbery entails a LOT more than preference.

BTW I, too, have an unusual sensitivity to light, normally needing sunglasses for anytime outdoors with the sun shining, the screens are often tough to see for me too. Cloudy days are usually not too bad, though some still call for the sunglasses. BTW, I used to use the Corning Thin & Dark™ glass lenses before Transitions™ got so good. They were glass but heavier than the Transitions™ as well as more expensive (though not a lot after protective coatings, etc.)

I don't recall if they were Corning, but I recall wearing heavy glass transitions lenses in the 70's. Initially mine were rimless (i.e. lenses were drilled), and I got tired of them breaking when I took them off and put them in my shoes while changing with the kids at the swim baths. I was so glad to eventually be able to switch to plastic.
