Hi,
I'm strugglingwith settings for the surround sound for my 2011 34y with the central tv (rises from the sideboard)

Objective: route the sound through surround when rx satellite
**Sound out from TV is connected (to something, presumed DVD) - apparently present at all times. Have to turn on?
**DVD is on - Sound in should be on Aux 2? Other? Setting?
**Speakers are on - They do work using Aux input

What am I missing? Love those ?manuals?

TIA

Ernie

I am currently watching the Superbowl on my TV over the buffet with the sound coming from both the TV and the surround system.

TV remote controls the TV volume.

DVD/radio is on with with AUX button on (display says AUX 1 IN) and surround speaker buttons A & C on (button B is bedroom speakers). Surround volume is controlled using DVD/radio volume control.

Hope yours is similar.

If I recall on my unit, which is the same as you described with the hutch TV. The TV is wired to one of the AUX inputs on the DVD/Surround System, my DVD/Surround Sound is a Samsung unit. I select AUX 1 or 2 not sure and I am not at the coach at the moment and the sound is controlled by the DVD/Surround System Volume Control. The TV Speakers still work unless you either turn them off with the volume control on the TV or turn them off in the TV menu.
I have only used it this way a couple times as we normally just use the TV's internal Speakers. You should be able to hear the radio if you select it on the DVD/Surround System just to make sure the DVD/Surround System is working. I think the speaker switch has to be on as the same speakers in the coach are used as the rear surround also are connected to the dash radio by this switch (at least on my unit).
If you cannot get yours to work, I will be back to the coach by Friday this week and can provide exact setup for my unit if it is the same as yours. Let me know how you progress.

Thanks! Mine was a little diferent, but I got it to work. AUX 2, Speaker on, Volume control with theDVD. I haven't sorted out balance, etc. yet, but progress.

It'd really help if Winn didn't use IR opaque glass in the doors of the electronics cabinets.

I had A-Z RV install and set-up my Winegard dish and DirecTV system and told them about the discussions on this forum regarding the difficulty of IR remotes controlling multiple TV's and asked them to consider using the RF mode on DirecTV's remote controllers since others on this forum have converted to RF. We found out that a single RF remote could control all three TVs unless you were very careful in the direction the remote was pointed, which eliminates much of the benefit of using an RF remote.

Their work-around was to set up each TV with it's own distinct input mode and remote mode. For example, my buffet TV used a component input and RF remote mode while the outside entertainment TV uses a HDMI input and IR remote mode. The BR TV uses some combination of the two... forgot which but it works. I'm sure the "purists" would have a problem with this set-up but it works for me.

Sarge and others converted to RF remotes to solve some of the problems you are having.

I get 1080i on all three TV's.

The MH is wired with DirecTV's Genie receiver, Cat6 and Vizio TV's. (HDMI is a security scam.) All the rest is selectable locally and through coding adjustments from DTV. If Genie can talk to the TV you can do just about anything you want... providing the TV is supported.

While it initially worked, it required the Vizio remotes to turn on the TV and control the volume. Had to go to DTV's 2nd tier support to get it all to work on their remotes only. Even the DTV tech, who said he had installed hundreds of theater systems, called the set-up "impressive" once he finally understood it. Because he didn't initially understand it he screwed it up so I was standing outside in the dark in Bowie, AZ with two remotes and a flashlight entering codes for about two hours. All is fine now.
