I would say its OK to ask.? If it were me being asked and I didn't know the person asking the answer would be NO.? IMHO one should always ask for permission whether it is secured or not.? To just start using somebody's? internet without their permission is no different than tapping in and using their telephone without permission.? My wireless requires a wep code and anybody I have given the code to has my permission to use it when ever they are close enough to us.
