It was
$40 a month when I signed up. They quickly started raising prices and I bailed out. It was not worth it at $40 so I sure as heck don't need YTTV.

Same with amazon prime but not as obvious. Prime used to include a lot of stuff they now want you to pay for. On prime music now i cant even forward past songs i own that are on my local storage without paying the extra fee. Error message says you have reached your skip limit but if you pay us $x a month you can get that feature back.

I found a free app that lets me do what i want with the music i already own.

This is the problem with the current capitalist system. There is never an end to how much profit they need to make or in the ways they will find to extract more money for the same thing. I dont know what would work better so just gotta live with it till somebody figures that out

Ah yes, I remember. In fact, back when it was much less $$$ it was a post of yours that made me decide to give it a closer look. :)

In our case it came down to deciding, for our travel needs that is, whether to stick with our Dish satellite, or YTTV. I think Dish was around $70 with not nearly as many features so we're giving YT a shot this time. Will cancel as soon as we're done traveling and go back to our local cable and TiVo.

Agree that price is getting ridicules but if you like watching live TV that is like cable its a good option.

Sling tv is a cheaper option for similar content and has a free streaming option. Pluto tv is free if you arent attached to specific channels or content

I cant believe what people pay for all this stuff. The prices would be lower if people stopped buying it

We dropped yttv 4 -5 yesterday ago when they raised the price. Have been using Sling at I believe 40 a month for I think, the orange package.(not the sports pack)

Prime Video which owned Freevee, formerly IMbD, shut it down and rolled their ad tv into Prime. Their latest trick is charging for add ons like Acorn and Britbox, showing 2 or 3 episodes of a limited series then putting up another paywall requiring the subscriber to pay more if they want to continue watching the series.

You are right but you still see signs they arent fully integrated. You still see the freevee branding and there are still fewer comercials in prime video shows vs freevee. That is very quickly changing though.

i still use prime a lot for the shipping so still subscribe. I dont care enough about any tv show to pay for it so only watch whatever doesnt cost extra other than the occasional movie purchase for something like an old movie from my childhood

We do like YTTV, and it put the new $83 price in perspective for us when I logged into MyDish to check on something today. I was informed the price to reactivate my currently suspended Outdoor account was $153.70. We'll stick with YTTV for now...

Among the reasons we went with YTTV instead of Dish this trip, other than there not being much difference in price as I mentioned previously is that often a program we might want to record on Dish aired when we were traveling and not set up. With YT, no problem as anything you set to record will be there the next time you're able to connect.

Our Dish Pathway X2 was also limited to recording one channel at a time and often were might be things we wanted to record that overlapped. Again, no problem with YTTV.

When we were still active on Dish, we had an H2 in our motorhome as well as an H2 in our upstate NY base. Using Dish Anywhere, we could easily set up the base H2 to record programs while we were in transit for later viewing. That also worked well when bad weather was forecast and we would watch the H2 that was out of the storm's bath. Of course now that we have YTTV and other streaming services that's no longer an issue.

Having a wife and kids dont make you a good person. I dont know anything about uhc or what they have done. Violence is almost never a good option. Some would say never but im thinking things like ww2.

Any system only works when it works for enough people. Doesnt seem like enough think the current one does.

Here is info from you tube's latest financials. It is hard to believe they need to raise prices. Used to be a time when a lot of companies shared the wealth with their customers and employees when they did well.

Revenue: Grew 12.1% year-over-year to $8.92 billion. It was the second straight quarter in which YouTube’s year-over-year increase declined, after revenues rose 20% year-over-year in Q1 and 13% last quarter.

Historical Comparison: YouTube’s best quarter in terms of sales came during Q4 2023, when the platform reported $9.2 billion in ad revenue.

The Last 12 Months: Alphabet noted YouTube’s total ads and subscription revenues surpassed $50 billion over the past four quarter for the first time.

Standard industry practice..
Get you hooked. and UP UP UP got the prices. UP UP UP got the prices UP UP UP got the prices till you tell them where to shove.
