No wife, no significant other, no dog, no cat or any living creature to worry about.

Retired, modest annual income, semi hard core fisherman.

I was pondering selling out of my Baja Mexico digs and buying a travel trailer.
Winter along the Colorado river, from Yuma to Lake Mead...fishable waterways are a must.....most times.
Summer in the high country of the Western US and Pacific NW. By a lake or river or bay a must......most times.

12' aluminum boat with a powered truck bed rack is mandatory. Edie comes to mind. http://www.boatloader.com/instarack.html

A 26' to 28' rear living model TT looks nice. Those with the recliner style seating in the rear.
I don't want to be stuck at a dining table as the only seating option.

The son lives in Las Vegas so I can be relatively close for out of trailer R&R, mail/doctors for a week to 10 day stays.

I would use the proceeds of property sale to fund a strong truck and the TT.

Can I do it is subjective at best I know.......just looking for any and all types of input all of you can share.

Just something to consider
 
Sounds to me like you have a great plan. Get started, you can always tweek your plans as you go.
 
I have a 21 FBS North Trail with one slide out for the dining table. I replaced the mattress and added 6" to the frame to accommodate my 6'3" frame. it is a simple wood rectangle the width of the bed, works great. Only other issue I have had are hinge screws are too short. Had had to replace them on two cabinet doors and expect I will have to do more in the future. Otherwise I am very happy with the NT. It trails great, no sway. You are smart to invest in a at least a 250, 2500 truck. I have a 1500 Dodge 5.7 hemi that is doing the job for me but wish I could have afforded a 2500. Suggestion, never pay a prep fee to the dealer.

Different layout but same bathroom. I'm not a huge guy, 5'10" 220# but that bathroom is the pits for me.  I use it for family trips and weekenders so I make it work.  If I had to live in it, I'd burn it down. 

When you get a chance to walk through, sit on the pot, close the door and use your imagination.  Also, hop out of the shower and then work on toweling off and changing.  That bathroom is terrible.  I know they have other layouts with bigger washrooms, that'd be my advice.  Aside from that, it's been relatively trouble free and it's much better built than my old Coachman. 

Second advice? You can never have too much truck...
 
A 1 Ton 4x4 dually diesel, with a lot of the usable (to you) Bells & Whistles. A 28(ish) foot TT with at least 1 slide. 14" high toilet and a Garden Shower. (NO TUB)
