    Onan generator no start

Count me in with Phil-t and Wackymac. Mine did the same thing. Ended up finding the ground cable connection from the generator to the frame was bad at the frame end. Unfortunately, it appears the current sought another ground to use and it chose the electronics. Now mine starts for a few...

Conversion from generator to inverter, but not about installation

Thank you all. We typically drive during the day and almost never spend two days at the same place so I was thinking the drive time would be sufficient for charging. Our "nightly destinations" are also typically a camp ground so there's that too. We seldom boondock and when we do we're pretty...

Conversion from generator to inverter, but not about installation

As is typical for this forum, there is great advice on installing an inverter with the help of the search function. but I'm curious to hear from those who made the jump from generator to inverter. Regrets? Things you would have done differently? The Onan in my RV has bit the big one and my...

Dometic 8500 awning - Torsion spring assembly replacement

Cost to replace would essentially double the cost so I went ahead and used the HD spring. I installed with 2 turns and used short screws/tape to hold it in place via the pop rivet holes. Roll up felt good (felt normal) so I went ahead and riveted it. My next move is to lower the entire awning...

Dometic 8500 awning - Torsion spring assembly replacement

Lots of views with nobody offering experience. I reached out to Dometic and (surprise) they say the torsion assembly I bought is not compatible with my awning even though it was advertised as the replacement. According to the guys I bought it from, I can install the torsion assembly with the...

Dometic 8500 awning - Torsion spring assembly replacement

My awning is 12 feet. 7 less than the required minimum, yet this was the replacement torsion assembly. Everything looks to fit and I want to believe it will work. Seems to me the only issue would be a stronger "roll up" strength. I cannot see how the spring could be damaged if rolling up the...

Dometic 8500 awning - Torsion spring assembly replacement

Hi guys (and gals), been a long time since we had the funds to use the RV, but we're in a better place now financially and it's time to do some needed repairs. I have the Dometic 8500 awning with a broken torsion spring latch. I ordered what was supposed to be a direct replacement assembly. The...

    Baffling radio interference

Just for grins.... Start it up at night when you can easily see sparking around the coil packs. Tune the AM and set the volume so you can hear the popping over the engine noise and see if you find rouge sparks from a failing wire. If not, make sure the plug cups are clean, then retest. If that...

    Backing a tow vehicle

I managed about 75 feet once at an accident that completely closed the highway. My choices were to wait for the accident to be cleaned up so the emergency vehicles could be moved (I was on the right shoulder and the highway was wide enough I could have probably manged the turn), unhook / backup...

Philly to Miami safest route in winter? I'm nervous...

We generally drive straight through when we make the trip... about once per year. We've found it best to time the trip through/around DC late in the evening if we go that route. Any other time we seem to catch unfavorable traffic. Our favorite route is 81/66/17/95.

well got the 3D printer in the mail over the weekend

I don't get to play with the printer, just the parts made on it. I know we can scan to print.

    Nebie

Adding to Gary's post... Since you're still looking, make sure you get one that designed for cold weather. Not that it makes a huge difference, but you stand a better chance of not freezing up in cold weather.

well got the 3D printer in the mail over the weekend

3D printers are generally good for about 0.007" resolution. That means they're good to make a model, but not really smooth surfaces. We do use them at work for R&D piece making, and we've found using regular Bondo or glazing compound to smooth out the plastic works pretty good. Remember to...

any new Class A with super single tires ?

My only drawback would be that I like to carry a spare. But then again, if I had one of those mounted on the rear of the MH, I wouldn't have to worry about removing the receiver from the hitch since there would be no way possible to bang a shin on it. :)
