Shelbyd- Thanks for the info!? Hurricane Wilma hit us pretty hard here in the West Palm Beach area, so this is the first time I have been able to get "online" since the Hurricane hit on October 24.? You mentioned weighing the TT on the way home from picking it up and the tongue weight was 915...

quasi- Thanks for the info.  I like your tag....particularly the "...never too late to have a happy childhood."  It looks like I can safely tow the proposed rig, altough the trend is toward the F-250s and Ram 2500s for that size.  I bought the truck before really thinking about gettingf back in...

    Greetings from Florida!

PancakeBill- From what I have gathered both from my owner's manual and www.ford.fleet.com the max towing capacity for my setup is 8100#.  The 18" wheels reduce the max by 500# from the ratings with 17' wheels. We are definitely seeing the shortage of TTs since Katrina and Rita.

FX- My F150 is rated similar to yours.  It tows 9000.  The truck weight is rated at 7050.  However, if yours struggles on the hills I am guessing I would have a similar experience.  Thanks for your response.

We are i n the market for a new TT and are particularly interested in the Sunline Solaris T-2553. This TT has an overall length of 26' 4".  Dry weight (with options) is 4990#.  Hitch weight is 715#.  I figure on a payload not to exceed 1000#, bringing total TT weight to 5990#. My TV is a 2005...

    Greetings from Florida!

Gary- I believe the allowable tow weight goes down as the wheels getter bigger.  Per my manual, the same truck with 17" wheels has al slightly higher towing capacity.

    Greetings from Florida!

BillnRI- Sounds like a good policy that you have. Here are the details on my TV: Rear axlw ratio:  3.73 6.5 ft. bed SuperCab 5.4l V-8 18" wheels We may well be over Tampa way in our search.  We are starting to fan out from our West Palm Beach base in search of the right TT.

    Greetings from Florida!

Carl, RV Roamer, CalTex, Jim, FX- Thanks for the advice and comments.  I think I  have a better feel for weight/length TT that I want to tow. I have some other questions, but now that I have "Introduced Myself" I will post those questions in the appropriate forum. Thanks again for your help.

    Greetings from Florida!

Carl- Thanks for the response.  I had to look up "ameliorated" before replying back. ;) I am planning to use either the Equal-i-zer hitch or the Reese Dual Cam.  Right now I am leaning toward the Equal-i-zer, but open for suggestions. Thanks again!

    Greetings from Florida!

Hi everyone, I am brand new to the fourm and I like what I have seen so far. Many years ago when my kids were young I towed a 1976 23' Terry TT with my 1973 Pontiac station wagon.? We made many memorable excursions including a 10,000 mile cross country trip.? Well, the kids are grown and gone...
