    Thanks to Everyone!

All true Gary, but without the education I've received here, I am quite sure we would not have been nearly as successful.  :)

    Thanks to Everyone!

We got it! Odd, but the dealers are not all cooperating like we all are thinking they might. Curiously, our offers on three units at two other lots got rejected. We offered high NADA on these other three (but well below their list price) and they just plain said no. Yeah, I think it is...

    Thanks to Everyone!

Made an offer today on our very first RV.  :) There was a 1997 Layton that we loved, but the awnings were ragged, it was a little dirty, and they wouldn't come down below $9100 total at that dealer.  :-\  So, we offered on a 1995 Fleetwood Prowler 30 5X (sofa/dinette slide) elsewhere. Excellent...

Possible to Move or Remove a Bed

Hey RVers. A bed-rearranging scenario I'm curious about. We've narrowed our purchase down to either a 1995 Prowler 31' or a 1997 Layton 31'. Unfortunately, I can't check it out myself just now - We're a few hours away from both of these. #1 - In the Prowler, I'm wondering if I could move the...

    Thanks to Everyone!

Thanks so much for the wonderful advice and counsel we received from folks here at the forum! We went to five dealers last weekend, and I really walked onto the lots feeling like I knew what I was doing and talking about. Can't say thanks enough times. We just contacted the dealers about a 1995...

When to a RV show today and the Class A units..

Interesting. I'm going to the Northeast Show tomorrow. Curious to see how things shake out. I've seen the list of what models the dealers are going to be displaying, but now I'll have to go back to check it again.

    These Prices Good Enough?

Awesome. Thanks for the info. Just by virtue of the situation, I'll be perfectly clear with them - We're driving out of state to see these guys and are re-visiting three dealers along a 250 mile route. They could call me, but it better be fast - After a few hours, I'll be on the other side of...

    These Prices Good Enough?

Umm ... dealer fees? Tell me about that. Is that as in, "tacked on fees above and beyond the agreed on price."

    These Prices Good Enough?

Oh, no ... I wouldn't assume quite that far.  :) I was more thinking that a basement is preferable - that I could heat a basement compartment myself, as opposed to no basement and/or the tank hanging under the chassis or not in an enclosed, heatable area.

    These Prices Good Enough?

I was just thinking - We were mostly considering motorhomes instead of TT's based on an assumption I should ask about - Because we'd be using it in Winter (a lot), the "basement" in the motorhomes we're looking at seemed like the best situation because the tanks were inside and could be heated...

    These Prices Good Enough?

Thanks so much for the wonderful advice, everyone! I took notes on all the info you posted - how to check the age of the tires, asking if the transmissions have been rebuilt, etc. We're going to go see these models again in two weeks. Also, knowing that I should be offering at or below the NADA...

    These Prices Good Enough?

We've got it narrowed down to four motorhomes at two dealers and a private sale. This is the list we have to decide from. All are in good shape, checked out, no signs of leaks or water damage, and all onboard stuff that should come with the RV is in place (generators and such). Mileage is around...

Would love opinions on power source planning

Yeah, we'll be there in Winter.  :o But I figure I'll like the cost of propane a lot more than I'll like continuing to live with New York City rent.  ;D And I get to travel when I like!

Would love opinions on power source planning

Awesome.  :) I was hoping so. In fact, we're in way Northern New York in the Adirondacks, so we don't really need air conditioning at all. Never gets that hot. Microwave usage would be an almost-never also. The Yamaha genny has a dedicated DC battery charging outlet, so that's a plus too. Any...

Would love opinions on power source planning

Starting this Summer, we'll be full timing it in our 1991 30' motorhome. We plan to park it on our land in the mountains most of the time, and will be taking long trips now and then as well. Since we'll be sitting down at our own place for long periods, I'm wondering what power situation would...
