Anyone replaced a Novakool RFU6209 fridge with a "dorm" type unit?

My rig has a Novakool RFU6209 fridge. It works "ok", but it has just died for the third time, and I'm not paying their asking price for a replacement. Last time I checked into such things, many people were replacing rv fridges with an inverter and a dorm fridge. My NovaKool is built-in to the...

    Electrical 12V upgrade: superb results

That is correct. (Sorry, I'm not that kind of electrical engineer. :-) ) These were some big, heavy deep-cycle AGM.

    Electrical 12V upgrade: superb results

I suspect you'll get more and better answers if you create a new thread, but the AC inlet into your RV (the plug on the outside) AND your inverter (if you have one) should both have a ground wire. You should use it!

    Electrical 12V upgrade: superb results

it comes with two AGM batteries about the same size as a Battleborn 100AH. Not sure how many cold-cranking amps they are rated for, but they are pretty big and heavy... but, being AGM, you can't run them down very far. It also doesn't come with any kind of current-tracking system (just a...

    Electrical 12V upgrade: superb results

NovaKool RFU6209. It was originally AC/DC, but Winnibago never connected the AC, and the control board had a severe reliability issue. The replacement is DC only. It draws, based on my measurements, about 6-7A when running. With AGM batteries, it was horrible and could drain the batteries...

    Electrical 12V upgrade: superb results

Our ERA 170M came with two AGM batteries, no inverter, and a fairly low-grade charger. It also has a DC-only fridge. When it was new, we had to run the engine for at least an hour a day or the fridge would kill the battery overnight. Recently, the batteries would not last the night almost no...

Any really good tire/wheel joints around Phoenix, AZ?

Just to close the loop, I ended up going with Firebird Tire on 19th ave. Their tire work was very good, although I need to clean up their electrical setup a bit from where they routed the wires for the display on the system. We went with the Dill Air system, and so far everything has worked...

July, near Vegas, where I won't roast alive, preferably near water or great view

Our anniversary is in mid-July. We have a long-standing tradition of eating a WONDERFUL meal at Bazaar Meat at the Sahara/SLS Casino in Vegas to celebrate. This year, we'd like to go camping somewhere nice in the days leading up, and just spend the one night in Vegas to sleep off the drinks...

Is there an RV inverter charger that doesn't "search" for loads?

The magnum 3000 is one I was looking at... but, assuming you turn it off at the control panel, how long does it stay off without going into search mode? I hate the idea that I'll have to start "nursing" the control panel. unfortunately, turning search mode off does exactly the opposite of what...

Is there an RV inverter charger that doesn't "search" for loads?

I have a Class B, battery power is limited. I want an inverter that is very definitely OFF unless I turn it on. it seems, all RV oriented inverters go into a "search" mode where they check several times a second to see if something is connected... which means my microwave will never shut off...

Any really good tire/wheel joints around Phoenix, AZ?

My so-cal RV dealership repair guy installed those steel-braid hoses in my rear duallies for valve-extension purposes. Then we moved to Phoenix. While in storage, the outside tire on the sunny side got roasted so much that the valve extender broke the valve stem, and we lost a tire while on...
