Full time RVing in a 30ft class c

I agree with the others who have said you have the unit so give it a try for a longer trip. There seems to be a growing movement of people full timing in small vans who think it is great! On the other side, there are folks fulltiming in 45 foot luxury coaches who could not bear the thought of...

How to get an A/C on the roof by yourself

A block and tackle rigged inside the bay would easily lift the 100 or so pounds. Once lifted and secured move the RV into position so it can be lowered onto the roof.

Campground Wording - What is your interpretation

I think the wording could have been more clear but I don?t see it as dishonest. It would seem strange for a campground to participate in some discount programs but then offer a much bigger discount for cash. Personally, I have never seen it handled that way. I would have been happy with the 10%...

Broken steering Casting caused crash of our Dutch Star w/ Spartan Chassis

I should mention that I have no formal expertise there either. My reply/observation was probably best described as "thinking out loud." Looking at pictures vs the actual piece can be quite different. In one of the pics it seems like there might be a void in the casting, but again it is a small...

Broken steering Casting caused crash of our Dutch Star w/ Spartan Chassis

That is a different part from the one Gary referenced in the previous thread. That broken arm appears to be from a sudden shock rather than a crack developing and spreading over time. Perhaps it broke from the impact with the concrete wall. That would mean something else failed (bracket?) to...

The roof of my MH lifted & cracked the fiberglass skin in the center

John, I don't mean to be difficult but to those of us who aren't as familiar with the building processes or standards as you or Gary may be, this seems kind of odd. I have just viewed the youtube video and the WIT Club News Oct/Nov 2010 and now have a better understanding of this joint. I...

    Considering a 2006 Four Winds Hurricane 33H

There are so many low mileage RV's to choose from I would pass on it as well. There will come a day when you need to sell and many people would not ever consider such a high mileage gas unit. It could be very difficult to sell so unless you can buy it so cheap that you cant really go wrong I...

The roof of my MH lifted & cracked the fiberglass skin in the center

Interesting pictures. It may be hard to see but I can't see much adhesive left on the underside of the roof panel. Also, I was imagining that the fiberglass roof panel would have had the curve molded in when it was laid up. It appears that it has simply sprung back to its original flat shape...

The roof of my MH lifted & cracked the fiberglass skin in the center

Certainly not the best way to build the roof. It is hard to imagine they would choose to do it that way, if they cared about their reputation. And their customers.

The roof of my MH lifted & cracked the fiberglass skin in the center

My first thought was that the insurance company is treating this poorly. Then I thought about the damage being caused by 60 mph wind. I wonder if they assume this roof was either not maintained properly of had some damage which contributed to the problem. It is not like this is a house that...

    Driving through Atlanta

I agree with the straight thru approach but I would also be monitoring traffic on a smartphone or GPS. It only takes one accident to make another route much better.

    Atlas tire opinions?

Based on the replies above it may be wise to avoid the risk of unknown with Atlas. One facility that I have used for repairs specializes in RV and truck fleet maintenance. For the 16 inch size they recommended the Firestone Transforce tires, they use them extensively on trucks of that size. I...

    Ford V10

I suspect most V-10's will outlast the RV they are powering. A friend works for a company that has a fleet of trucks with the V-10 motor. They rotate them out of service on about a 7 year schedule and about 200 k miles or a little more. The motors do well but they do run into transmission issues...

    Pot and stuff

A little before the last presidential election my wife and I stopped watching any/all national news on TV, in the evenings. The idea came from a surprising  conversation I had with a respected friend who does something similar. TV news is arguably the most sensational of all media, it is...
