    Cooktop

I could not do without a pressure cooker -- a whole chicken is cooked is 12 minutes, pot roast cooked fall-apart tender in 45 minutes instead of 4 hours, beans in 8 minutes instead of 3 hours, BBQ ribs in no time, noodles and chicken in 6 minutes, rich stock in 15 minutes, etc.  I use it with a...

    home schooling your kids?

The traditional A Beka program is what I used 13 years ago to home school my son.  Years later my other child attended a local Christian school from grades K-8 that utilized A Beka prep, and then attend 9th-12th grade online.  At the time my son was being home taught, 50% of the top 10% highest...

Wheelchair Grandma in & out of the RV

Short of widening the door, do you think offset hinges might work to provide the 2 more inches?  I've heard of that being utilized to widen the doorway.  My best friend is quadriplegic with a C5 SCI injury.  He lacks chair entry access to most RV's for the same reason: doors too narrow...

Ever seen a flying Jayco? (AKA: 50' High Crane Set)

...hehe, nah, we just bring our own crane if maneuverability becomes an issue.  Crowded grounds?  No issue!LOL ;D

How has the state of the economy affected RV values?

Summer's are off season for selling in AZ.  Spring and fall are the best times for that here but plenty of folks have been sitting on RV's for sale for months and months even in the 'good' seasons.  Buying in summer is the best bet out west, here in metro AZ, anyway.  We have purchased 4 RV's...

Can you attach a motorcycle lift to the rear of a 5th-wheel?

It just so happens that one of the products we fabricate is bike lifts and cargo carriers.  I can only agree with the others who have said it's ill advised for a gold wing/5th wheel.

Ever seen a flying Jayco? (AKA: 50' High Crane Set)

It might be a bit unusual to many, but I thought some of you might get a kick out of photos of a flying 31' Jayco. There was a max of 2" - 6" of clearance on all sides for the set placement.  Talk about a sweetspot...hehe...now this pic is when it just lifted off.  I have many more pics of it...

    running a room a/c

Andy and All, do you think the year of the rv has anything to do with handling the load?  Mine is very old, picked up for next to nothing (I figured on investing in it at that price and with it issues, of course, lol).  One thing I've come to highly value is other people's experiences or the...

DryCamping~Boondocking~Emergency What food to keep for NO POWER times

I have to agree that for that many months of emergency food stock with the stated limitations for weight and space, dehydrated is the way to go, with a solar oven or 2.  More so than the weight of canned goods, water reserves would be my greatest concern (how to store enough water for several...

Roof vents open or closed with AC to cool unit?

Living in the very hot desert of the southwest, closing up everything once a place begins to cool down is standard.  Somewhat like a car a/c when the car is 160 degrees inside...when the car interior is very hot, initially it helps to have a window open (since the outside air is a bit cooler)...

    running a room a/c

I run 2 units but have to have different hookups for each.  Window units.  The small 8k btu unit runs off one 30 amp hookup along with the rest of the rv, and the other 12k btu unit has an entirely different 30 amp.  In addition to running the 8k btu, if, say, a large fan is plugged in and then...

    safe travel for dogs

This has a happy ending just to say that upfront, but eons ago when I was 16 my uncontained chow mix forced a closed window out in the camper (he liked riding there) and took a tumble out on the freeway from the fast lane in rush hour traffic.  He recovered from the tumble and near misses, ran...

    Trailer sewage tank questions

From another AZ neighbor......I had new flex ran under the trailer, then had black pipe from there connected to an existing seperate line running into the septic.  We have 3 full time hookups going to one septic.  But easy to do, yes.  We had the small leach bed greatly enlarged 20 or so years...

    Dog On Campsite

If allowed, some of the loose loop rope on pilasters may deter some.  But it sounds like any dog is a potential liability if there's a suspicion that a 'pound of cure' could eventually factor in.  I'm not saying this is the case in this situation at all, but sometimes people utilize a family...
