12v electrical issue in living room slide lights

I have had an issue with the small 12v ceiling lights and wall lights going out due to corrosion on the wiring connectors.  Usually I just cut the bad connectors out and put new regular electrical connections and fill them with silicon.  I have read a lot about how poor the connections are when...

Want to add a 110ac switch to water heater. Best way to do it?

Update: I installed a 15 amp rated switch with a ground in a metal fully enclosed box under the sink. I used shielded cable to run to the supply cable to the heater where I spliced into the hot wire. Used it last weekend and it worked great.

Trying to winterize. Why is my water heater bypass not working

Thank you for the links.  I disconnected the first fittings off the water heater and found the check valve.  Looks like I will be taking it to Home Depot for a replacement.

Trying to winterize. Why is my water heater bypass not working

Ok I was wondering if there is a check valve.  Would it be I n the hot side outlet on the water heater? Looking at that outlet there is an elbow that leads to the hot line.  Would it be in there? My 5ver is an '09. I've owned it since new. No I haven't had any hot water issues at faucets that...

Trying to winterize. Why is my water heater bypass not working

I have one bypass on the cold inlet of my water heater. I've never experienced this before when winterizing but I'm just pumping antifreeze into my water heater through my hot outlet.  I drained my water heater first. In the past I guess it's possible that I've always drained the water heater...

Want to add a 110ac switch to water heater. Best way to do it?

Yes for sure. One other thing that I have never seen before is on the 110 AC line to the water heater. It looks to be some kind of a flat connector that can be taken apart. Probably if you want to remove the water heater and you won't have to remove wires from the water heater connection. The...

Want to add a 110ac switch to water heater. Best way to do it?

I've just dealt with this inadequacy in my system for six years but it's time to improve it.  On my fifth wheel I have a suburban water heater.  The 110ac on/off is on the front of the water heater outside.  Keystone didn't install a switch inside from the factory.  I don't know why they...

Entry steps flipping out while driving

Thanks for the replies.  I think I'll be putting a bungee cord around mine from now on.

Entry steps flipping out while driving

Has anyone else had this happen before? On our trek home yesterday we were in a good rain storm with a slight cross wind.  A couple of times the entry steps to our fifth wheel either blew out from being retracted or bounced out. I've had this camper five seasons and this is the first it's...

    Removing Decals from the Cap

For any decal removal, I just scrape off the decal carefully with whatever won't scratch the surface to which the decal was applied.  Sometimes if you get it started most of it will pull off.  Then remove the leftover adhesive with methyl hydrate.  I don't think the methyl hydrate will do...

Extended Mirrors for F250 Super Duty Crew Cab

I think your truck will be the same as mine but the jack itself goes behind the rear seat just inside the passenger door laying down on its side.  There is a short rubber strap with two metal loops that holds the jack down between two tabs that stick up out of the floor.  The lug wrench and the...

Extended Mirrors for F250 Super Duty Crew Cab

I don't recall ever seeing a Super duty with that mirror.  Every one I've seen have all had the extendable mirrors.  Are you the original owner of the truck?  If not, maybe someone has replaced the original mirrors with these.  In my opinion you can't beat the extendable mirrors.  Good size and...

hitch on the back of a 5th wheel

Most manufacturers won't endorse putting a hitch on the back of a camper.  You will probably have to find a welder to put one on for you as I did.  They have to be attached to the frame of the 5er to be heavy enough to pull something without letting go.    You will also have to check with DOT...

    5th wheel stability

I use both.  My 5er has four kids bunks in the upper room and with four kids jumping around up there, things get rocking and rolling pretty well.  Chocks are pretty well a must in my opinion to reduce the minor rolling movement.  If your layout has a bedroom in the top and you are the only ones...

closing the barn door after the horse is out ....

Looking at the Trailer Life Trailer tow ratings here: http://www.trailerlife.com/Images/DigitalEditions/pdfs/DigitalTLTowGuide2010.pdf assuming you have a crewcab truck and an automatic transmission it looks like you have a tow capacity of 12750 lbs.  If you have a manual tranny or a megacab...
