    Easy hitching your fifth wheel

The Dome mirror sounds like a good aid. For those that can see the king pin and hitch in the truck via the rear view mirror..... this might help. In my case, I can only see the top of the fifth wheel receiver plate because of the packer box (for gear etc.) in the front of the (long) bed. I...

    General 5th wheel/truck combo question

My 2 cents having 4X4.... Yes, I do get less mpg , but I enjoy the comfort knowing that I can get into some places a little easier having 4x4. Using the 4x4 with the front hubs not locked is easier on the tranny for backing up a slope with a load. If the slope is quite steep I put it into 4x4...

    Another Fifth Wheel Tire Thread

From my Post " Tires on 5th Wheel" ....OK.... I'm getting my new (5) tires mounted on my 5th wheel on Saturday. I decided on Maxxis 8 ply for $96.00 (can) each. Max load per tire = 2,150 Maxxis has 9/32" tread depth....more than some other brands. I won't have to , but the max psi is 65lbs. I'm...

Thanks to everyone who responded. Great advice, and much appreciated !! I will post with my decision when it happens. After futher investigation I found that somewhere sometime the trailer must have really hit a big bump in the road. I found scuff marks on the underside of the wheel well top. ...

    Tires on 5th wheel

The load range on the tires right now is "B" 1480 Lbs Max. They are the original tires (going by date) 1996...very checked/cracked now, not safe at all. The max pressure for them was 35 PSI and in my opinion not a good tire match for the load. The tires looked very soft when loaded...even...

    Tires on 5th wheel

It has come to my attention that I need new tires on my 5th wheel. Going by date for one, and the cracks (showing some of the steel belting) for another.  :( So I hope to step up in size (height) one or two sizes, to help carry the load better, and mainly to raise the trailer a little as well...

    Rear view cameras

I have one of these units with the 7 " screen.  http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/2009/07/product-review-peak-wireless-back-up-camera-system/ I use it mostly for my work trailer for hooking up...works great ! It is a clear screen and reliable. However, the supplied (15 ft) cable was too short...
