    HD Direct TV

You, Tom and Randy all have Direct TV at home.  I don't,  I have U-verse.  Do you know if it is a problem getting Direct TV for the RV without having it at home?

    HD Direct TV

Gary - that's the way I understood it.  Tiffin has two options, the Winegard dome type antenna or the pre-wire for the traveler satellite.  Ed

    HD Direct TV

We will be ordering a new RV in the next month and I'm working on what options to add.  I've read that the regular Winegard dome will only receive Direct TV SD.  The Newer Winegard SK-SWM3 Slimline Automatic Multi-Satellite TV Antenna can be used with the HD receiver.  If anyone has used it I'd...

    Tax Question (yuck)

I tend to agree with your CPA as the tax break is minimal  however I think the risk of an audit is slight.  There just isn't that much for them to recover.  I have taken the deduction on client's returns when they decided they still wanted to after I explained the requirements. Haven't had any...

    Curiosity question for the FULL-TIMERS

Two years ago my Mom passed away, my Dad 8 months later.  My brother and I had to clean out their house which was very full. Your kids will definitely appreciate what you are doing! Ed

    Our kayak trip yesterday

If you haven't found a Kayak yet you may want to look at some of inflatables.  Very light and take up very little space when deflated.

A warning about full time insurance

I totally agree.  My son was an adjuster for them for a few years until his conscience bothered him so much he left.  My car was once hit by a GEICO policyholder.  When I took it to a bodyshop I had used before and trusted, he told me he couldn't fix it right for what they were willing to pay. ...

Dealers and Discounts on new Tiffins

That's basically the negotiation approach I plan to take.  We will be ordering a coach with the options and finishes we want. I'm thinking aside from getting exactly what we want there are a few other  advantages.  The dealer has no carrying cost and since it is not on his lot, waiting for...

Solar System for Tiffin Allegro - Battery Needs?

Definitely will have a battery monitor.  Before we start Full Timing we will spend a few weekends boondocking and testing out the capacity of the system.

Dealers and Discounts on new Tiffins

This summer we are going to purchase a Tiffin Allegro 36UA (new model similar to the 36LA) and will be ordering it the way we want it. I've noticed at the RV Shows that discounts at the show's tend to average around 16% off MSRP on Allegros, some other brands are higher.  If you bought a new...

Solar System for Tiffin Allegro - Battery Needs?

Kevin, Thanks for the feedback, it's good to hear about your actual experience.  I met Danny Inman of Tiffin at the Tampa show and talked to him a lot about the solar option they have.  They run a 4 gauge wire from a box on the roof through one of the overhead compartments and then down to the...

Solar System for Tiffin Allegro - Battery Needs?

You are right I did gloss over things during the day.  I have been following a couple that has a 600 watt system in an Allegro 36LA.  They have a similar daytime power usage to us and based on that it looks like we can meet our needs during the day and will need to conserve at night.  I would...

Solar System for Tiffin Allegro - Battery Needs?

By the time we are ready to purchase it will be out.  We saw it at the Tampa RV Show and it is basically a 36LA with a few changes.  For one it has bunks whereas the 36LA does not and a larger slide on the driver side than the 36LA.  The one we saw was the first one off the line which they...
