I know this is an older question but just in case someone else comes across It; the overhead lights work on battery just like the winch does. Since both we?re experiencing an issue I?d start there. Wire could be off the battery or even on backwards.

+1 on the shipping consideration.  You may find it online at a discount, but that can quickly get absorbed with freight charges.  If you do go the furniture store route, a lot of newer recliners come in 2 pieces now, with the top separated from the bottom.  Much easier to get through the door...

Any chance that the factory used fiberglass in there originally?  Hard to tell from the pictures.  You've definitely got to consider that's a very harsh environment there as it will take a lot of water, rocks, etc. thrown at it constantly.  In a perfect world, a piece of stainless steel would be...
