    Restarting fishing

Check the regs, that get pretty specific on both where and which species, but about 10 years ago, on a fishing trip (hitting catch and release waters) bunch of guys wanted a fish fry and we were directed to a small lake in the park (Joffe) that had brook trout, which are not native there.  I...

knoxville tenn. to mt.pisgah campground nc

The entrance to Mt. Pisgah CG is on the Blue Ridge Parkway, and I'd think that avoiding curves and troublesome slopes would be easiest if you went I-40 to I-26 to its junction with the Pkwy.  Up the Pkwy from there is fairly gradual (for what you're doing), essentially up the spine (only drove...

    Greenville, SC Heading West

I'd be a little cautious about late Sunday afternoon, esp. down I-85, it's the time weekends in the mountains end.

    Amarillo to GC need recommenndations

It's been thirty years, but IIRC it was the Museum of Northern Arizona that had lots of interesting exhibits on the geology of the plateau (and its scenic wonders), and the varied Native American cultures in the region.  Probably a bunch else that I didn't get to in the day I spent inside. ...

    Heading west from central NC

As an update, about 11 am today, Thurs 3/15, it took me 45 minutes to go 8 miles S on I-85 (inside I-285, NE part of town).  Reports of an accident, that I never saw.  So maybe the most helpful thing I can say is to repeat, Good Luck.

    Heading west from central NC

Atlanta can be a a pain on the weekends too, but probably more variable.  Road work often gets done then to avoid weekday work traffic, and special events can mess it up too.  Those are often downtown, but FYI, the Braves are now on the NW of town, right at I-75 and I-285.  At least, check the...

No good options for TALL folks?

Probably need to be specific about what is "tall."  I'm 6'2, have run into problems with most of the smaller options I checked out, and am called tall by some, but don't really think of myself as outsized.  Found a small trailer at 6'5" but with some relatives 6'7", I decided that if they ever...

Can I fill a week around Alamogordo ?

Went through there on a Boy Scout trip on the way to Philmont in 1975.  Not much more time than "look over there."  Thanks for the reminder.  Probably need to put it on the retirement list.  Which is getting pretty long. And the later post indicates it's one of those many, many places that with...

    Level trailer during storage

What about being unlevel side-to-side?  Single axle.  Is an inch block under one side better than both tires on the pavement?

    Moccasin Creek SP fishing

I assume you've already figured out whether your visit would be able to happen, and you may be dealing with Irma affects yourself.  I don't see Moccasin Creek SP on the "closed" list, but definitely make a call to the park, and if you're going to visit, see if you can get highway info; state...

    Good electrical shop around Atlanta

Basically, I wanted a recommendation or two for reference in case I get over my head.  Which may be happening. On setting, I'll go through the manual again, but my reading was that voltage was an observed value, used to calculate "% full" based on a "full" value that the installer set.  On my...

    Good electrical shop around Atlanta

I probably just need to plow through the documentation on the Trimetric 2025-RV that was factory installed in my new-to-me 2014 Parkliner  to figure out  settings (shows 13.7 volts, 83%) but a good resource would be useful.  Especially given how much I realize I managed to not learn in school. ...

    Ol' Bob

That's always sad.  But good memories remain.  And although he can't be replaced,  he can be succeeded, and Lizzie will open up new spaces of her own.

    Moccasin Creek SP fishing

The website certainly is confusing and some recent 7/1 regulation updates don't make it better.  But as I read it . . . well, probably call the park for specifics.  Not sure about the status of an out-of-state senior.  But right now, the best answer is probably "don't bother."  The special reg...

    Folding table

I like this http://www.outfitterssupply.com/Roll-A-Table/productinfo/WCA122/ It stows nicely.  You have to screw the legs into the top, but it doesn't take long and is sturdy .
