    Best campground for mt rushmore

X2 on Heartland - they are Passport America, making it a bargain for the area.  I reviewed it with lots of photos here: http://pastorscott.com/travel/2017-heartland-rv-park-hermosa-sd/

    GMC 2008 diesel overheating

When my Ford F350 started acting like that the clutch fan had failed.  The truck was new to me and I didn't even know what it was supposed to sound like.  Once it was fixed, on bigger pulls it sound like a helicopter was taking off under the hood.

    Yosemite Lakes 1000 Trails Property

We were there a few years ago.  We liked it and didn't even mind the big pull up New Priest Grade to get there.  There's no cell or TV signal there, but we liked the campground.  I did a review of it with lots of photos here. ...

Need help with Rhino-Flex drain hose leak

I just got a new hose yesterday.  It has instructions taped to the those saying that the connectors have not been tightened and giving instructions for doing so.  Basically you back the lock ring off, then turn the connector till it is tight, then use the lock ring to make it snug.  Having...

Can you get on some waiting lists at desirable parks and then find a place farther out to stay in while you wait for an opening?

    Levelers

We've used the Anderson levelers for awhile and they do a good job.  However, just while ago I stored ours in the deep recesses of our 5th wheel bay.  The reason?  We are the proud owners of a newly installed Bigfoot Leveling system!  It's pushbutton leveling for us and we couldn't be happier.

    A "planner" fails planning :-(

Here's a fun website to add to your planning - put in a couple of points and it will give you the elevation changes: https://www.flattestroute.com/

    Reservations.....How flexible are they ??

We do a lot of planning and make reservations out in advance.  By the very nature of our kind of travel some reservations are "harder" than others.  If you are going to a private campground when things aren't real busy the owner will most always work with you on arriving a few days late or...

Getting off of I-20W and onto some Lesser Highways in MS, LA & TX

The Texas state highways are pretty good - I can't say as much for MS and LA!  That said, aside from pretty countryside with some nice lakes and lots of forest, I don't think there are any major attractions between Texarkana and Austin via state highways.  Having said that, the good highways and...

    adding leveling jacks

I have an appointment there in a few weeks to get this system installed on my 5th wheel and am glad to read your assessment of it!  Thanks.

    Campgrounds in Michagan

In the UP we stayed at Jack Pine Lodge campground, which is in Hiawatha National Forest between Munising, MI, on Lake Superior 30 miles to the north, and Manistique, MI, on Lake Michigan 25 miles to the south.  It is quiet and out of the way.  I wrote a review with photos here: ...

    Drive time/mileage

So, you have 5 weeks and you intend on traveling across the country and back.  That will be about 5000 miles or 1000 a week.  If you plan on moving, say 5 days a week, you would need to do 200 mile days.  If you plan on moving only 3 days a week you would need to do around 333 miles a move.  My...

    Anderson Leveler

We're happy with ours.  We have a big level on the front of the camper, so I pull forward while watching the bubble.  I call it my "poor man's power leveling system."

WALKING ON TOP OF A SLIDE WHEN IT IS EXTENDED: TO STEP UP ONTO ROOF OF 5TH WHEEL

I saw a similar question asked on the Hitchhiker forum.  The CEO responded that they had no problem with people walking on the roof of the slides of any of their campers.  However, I don't know if this can be applied to other brands of campers or not.

How much does it cost to Fulltime? 2 great articles.

I saw a poll elsewhere that suggested that, while the range of expenses was wide, the average expenses of those who responded was around $3000. I also dislike the "It depends" response but it's easy enough to avoid getting that answer by asking the right question.  The wrong question is, "How...
