After calculating the mileage, I would use google earth and look at the stations on satellite view before we left, for the first few trips we took with the toad. This would give me some kind of idea how much room a station had. After gaining some experience, I didn't need to do this any longer.
Also, disenfranchised Californians who have lost jobs have moved into RVs to survive, many dry-camping in whatever parking lots they can find.
We get blamed for everything
On my 2015, if the key is in the ACC position the odometer will log miles. I keep it in between off and ACC. This unlocks the front wheels and keeps from logging miles.
I've been in some gas stations where the rear tire of the toad cleared an island or another vehicle by a couple of inches. Without a toad you should be able to get into most. Look carefully before you enter. On some trips I will plan ahead using google maps and calculate mileage.
I agree 100% with everything stated, but, I like new things. Both of my houses were bought new. All the vehicles in the last 25 years have been new. Both of my motorhomes were new and have had very few minor repairs. I feel better knowing where it has been and how it was maintained.
I sold a motorhome recently, listed it on Craigs list. The buyers wanted to pay in cash at my home. I had them meet me at my credit union so the cash could be verified and counted. Everything went smooth, the buyers though did not want to give the teller their names.
If I would have owned an RV back when the kids were younger, I would have used it at their sporting events. It would have been nice to hang out between games and escape the weather. I will have to wait until the grand kids come along.
Sounds like what happened to us at the Vacaville CW. Great sales experience, horrible service dept.. Avoid this location like the plague. They do not care about you or your RV, will lie to your face and even blame each other for their train wreck of a service dept.
Yeah it depends on the quality of either. My last rig a Navion, had a manual one and it was not of the highest quality. It felt like it would fall apart at anytime. We left it unattended once and one of the arms broke from the wind. My new rig has an automatic and it is much sturdier and seems...
Sounds about like my experience at the Vacaville Ca. CW. Not only did we have horrible service from the shop, our MH was broken into while it waited for 2 months to be serviced.
Before we leave on a trip I use google earth to scout stations in particular towns. Not really concerned with price. I calculate the miles in between fill ups. Our last trip of 1,900 miles it worked out well.
