    Thoughts on getting older

I always took growing older for granted. Most of my relatives lived well into their 80s, my dad made it to 90 and my grandmother saw 104. However, my cancer diagnosis last year changed my way of thinking. Stage 4 metastatic cancer with two-year survival rate measured in single digits will do...

Destination for a "Trial run" in the Northeast

Hello from Litchfield County. There is a lot to see and do in the Northeast, but how far are you willing to travel and how long will you be staying? Lack of transportation will be an issue, but friends of ours manage to roam all over the place with a small Class C. They take their motorhome on...

    FileMaker Pro

Can’t help with your issue, but just wanted to comment that I loved FileMaker Pro. Our 911 center CAD was based on it and I developed templates that worked seamlessly with that database. I started using it in DOS when it was a flat file database called Nutshell. Wow, that was a few years ago.

How to keep tanks and lines from freezing

We use one of those in our well house at home. A 100-watt bulb works, but you can't get them anymore.

    Question for gasoline-powered RVers

I-91 in MA. There are two rest areas and a scenic view stop, but you would never fit into any of them.

What's the best pillow for sleeping?

I've always had trouble finding a comfortable pillow. They're either so fluffy that your head just sinks in with little support, or they're too firm and uncomfortable. Just like Goldilocks and the Three Bears. My current solution is two thin pillows shoved into one pillowcase, which works pretty...

    Question for gasoline-powered RVers

To answer the original question: All of our fuel stops for the entire trip are planned before we leave home, as are meal and rest stops. I'll use Google maps and Street View to make sure we actually fit. With a 38 foot gas Class A towing a Jeep, there are places we just can't get into. After a...

    I wonder what caused this.

Oh look, there's a king-sized mattress stuck in that little window!

    I wonder what caused this.

In 42 years of fighting fires, I’ve never seen a car explode. The two propane tanks were pretty impressive though. A burning propane tank is pretty impressive even when it doesn’t blow up.

    Covid News. (Good News)

Reading the comments, I'm guessing Faux News is still alive and well. For those of us with compromised immune systems, this is no laughing matter.

    Residential or RV Fridge?

Search the forums for folks having problems with their refrigerators. How many of those issues are with residential units?

    Highway camera RV pics

Our company security policy prohibits an Alexa or similar device in the proximity of my home office. Not that I would have one anyway.

    Don't pump air brakes.

You can deplete the air in a brake system, but I've only done it once. Backing a fire engine out of a half-mile long driveway with switchbacks and washed out-gravel, at night in a downpour. It was slow going with lots of braking. The low air warning came on just as I hit the street.
