    Car Towing Advice

Mike Are you saying the ND is a different animal because you believe it is not towable or because of what you believe to be an issue with the warranty? As I said above, I know an owner towing a 2016 and an owner towing a 2017.  Roadmaster makes base plates for the ND series. Tim

    Car Towing Advice

After the sides of a friends car were badly keyed, I used an enclosed trailer to carry my Austin Healey to both coasts. Tim

    Car Towing Advice

Both of your statements are wrong. I towed a 2000 5-speed over 35,000 miles.  I then towed a 2010 6-speed over 20,000 miles. When it was butt-struck and totaled, I bought a 2012 6 speed and have towed it over 25,000 miles. I have also helped more than 150 Miata owners to get their cars flat...

?Riddle Me This?? (Trailer braking question)

I have never owned or towed a RV trailer, but I have owned a couple of enclosed race car trailers.  One had 4 wheel (2 axle) electric Drum brakes, the other had 2 wheel (1 axle) electric Disc brakes I have always held that 65%-75% of the stopping force comes from the towing vehicle and that...

    Flat Towing 2016 Mazada 3

TC, 12 years ago, after RVing for 3 years without a towed, I wanted to tow a Mazda Miata.  The Miata owners manual said the same thing, "not recommended" without specifying manual or automatic transmission. I bought a 2000 Miata 5-speed manual (already out of warranty) and sourced a...

    Towing a 2005 Miata speed

Irene, ONLY MANUAL transmission Miatas can be flat towed.  AUTOMATIC transmission cars can NOT be towed 4-down. I towed a 2000 5-speed Miata over 35,000 miles and have now towed a 2010 and a 2012 6-speed Miata over 25,000 miles. Additionally, I have helped more than 100 other Miata owners to...

    Newbie and towing weight

I have a good friend who towed a 19 foot r-pod with a Pilot. Without the trailer, his Pilot would get about 30 MPG. WITH the trailer, his MPG dropped into the 11-12 range. I don't know what engine he had, but his mileage drop tells me that he was spending most of his towing time with the...

Towing a 2006 Mazda Miata 4 wheel down

I don't know why I didn't see your post sooner. I towed a 2000 5-speed over 35,000 miles and have now towed a 2010 6-speed and a 2012 6-speed over 25,000 miles. With information, I have helped more than 100 Miata owners to get their cars flat towable. PM me with your Email address so that I...

My toad tires do not center after a turn

BB, I have recently started towing an inherited 2011 Equinox.  Before starting to tow, I did some research and read in an Equinox forum that the 6 cylinder model has conventional hydraulic assisted power steering, but the 4 cylinder model has electric assisted power steering. As the discussion...

Whats the best way to get internet while traveling?

We also have Verizon service.  When my wife and I last changed phones, we got the HTC Incredible Droid 3G phone with an unlimited data plan.  Not sure I remember correctly, but I think the unlimited data plan is $30/month. We have our Verizon Email, Gmail, and the Internet (+ maps, GPS, Texting...

Please explain need for WDH for a light trailer

I frequently tow a 16' enclosed trailer with my 1959 Austin Healey inside.  The total weight is about 4,500#.  I tow it with both a 22' Class C and a GMC 4WD Suburban. http://www.ntahc.org/op/RV-Trailer-Healey.jpg http://www.ntahc.org/op/Trailer99.jpg On my first tow from Dallas to a Lake...

Hwy 1 along Pacific Coast with a Toad

6/17/11 - I just read in my Austin Healey forum that Highway 1 through Big Sur just opened yesterday after being closed for many months due to a landslide. I LOVE that road.  I've done it in my 22' Class C pulling a Miata, but I wpuldn't try it in a 37' with a towed.  Many TIGHT hairpin turns. Tim
