Nineties A class, what to look for?

Do you have any tips how to go about looking for a good RV? I have tried rvtader.com and rvtraderonline.com. I have also looked at ppl.com. Its harder for me to go through the local adds. I will have three weeks in June of this coming summer to find a unit worth buying. I am looking at Four...

Nineties A class, what to look for?

That was very helpful to me. I have limited time to actually look for units. I'll spend three weeks in Florida this summer. I will have to pick a few posted mh's and have them checked by independent mechanics before I go see them. That will save me time looking at mh's that are not sound. It...

Nineties A class, what to look for?

Thank you for your reply. I can do all the interior and most of the exterior work myself. The mechanical work is another thing. I won't be able to do work on the main components like the engine, transmission, brakes, etc. Could you find a unit that is sound in that area or will you just find...

Nineties A class, what to look for?

My dad just bought a 1992 Bounder 34 for $7000,--. It seems to be in real good shape. For around $ 10.000,-- I see quite a few A class motor homes from that era on offer. I am starting to wonder if I would like to own one. I am also wondering though if, considering the price and the age of the...

    Trailering without WD hitch

Thanks for your information. You are right, electric brakes are permitted here, but there is no E.U. release for 99% of the systems. Therefore the DMV will fight you to the death to keep from licensing your vehicle. I have come to my senses. It's not going to happen. I would go so much over...

    Trailering without WD hitch

To get both the hitch and the trailer road legal, I will have to fit a certified trailer hitch on the car and a certified coupler for the trailer. Euro trailer hitches do not have the fittings to connect a WD hitch, so I assumed that I would not be able to fit a WD hitch. Maybe I was wrong. Do...

    Trailering without WD hitch

I did find a kit to go from coil to air bag but (of course) it requires more money and effort to buy and install it. Therefore the Firestone coil-ride seems just about right for me. Affordable and very easy to install. The question remains; is the levering capacity of the coil-ride (500-1000...

    Trailering without WD hitch

Thanks for your reply and the great pics. That does speak a thousand words. I looked into Firestone ride-rite airbags and loved what I saw. I then discovered that the post 2000 Suburban/Yukon 1500 has coil springs. Firestone has the coil-ride bags for those, but they have a leveling capacity of...

    Trailering without WD hitch

I am beavering away, trying to find a suitable tow vehicle and travel trailer and importing them to Europe for use over there. Regulations here demand surge brakes. That means that I will have to change the axles on the TT and the hitch on both the TV and the TT. So far no problem. I can deal...

experience with 2006 Forest River Suveryor

Thanks for talking to him. Did he mention that they ship quite a few units to the E.U.? That would suggest that there is a way to get them road legal over here. There is no point to shipping them over here, if you can't get them licensed without rebuilding them completely.

Dear Bill, Thanks for your reply. I was thinking about the SV291. I love the layout, with the bunk beds. I am looking to spend about $10.000,--. From what I see on line, that should get me a 2004 to 2007? Do dealers have access to a database of available used units from dealers? Or should I...

I am looking at a used Forest River Surveryor travel trailer in the 2004-2007 range. I like the fact that it is light weight and is half ton towable. I also like the aluminum frame, bonded insulation and fiberglass exterior. Does anyone have any experience with this brand and type of travel...
