    Bounder entry steps stuck retracted

I used a white motorcycle chain lube that I had around, seemed like a reasonable enough application for it. I thought I had an all-purpose white lithium spray but couldn't find it. But yes, regular lubes will be on the menu from here on out!

    Bounder entry steps stuck retracted

Oops -- I made the video public. I got them unstuck by pulling the motor out. With the motor removed, the steps freely swung down and became extendable again. My guess is they just hadn't been lubed much by the previous owner. They seemed a little stiff.

    Bounder entry steps stuck retracted

Well I got the steps fixed! They really were just stuck. What I'd said earlier about seeing a pinched wire was me misunderstanding what the folded up steps looked like -- the switch wire really seems to be routed up behind the step frame in a way that appears pinched but is not. I started...

    Bounder entry steps stuck retracted

My steps are stuck retracted, so I can't simply extend the steps to make removing the motor easier!

    Bounder entry steps stuck retracted

I don't know, can I? I got fixated on detaching the motor arm via the pin and didn't even take a good look at how the motor itself was mounted. Now it's dark.

    Bounder entry steps stuck retracted

Well I climbed under to lubricate the steps and found at least one possible cause for the problem - a wire that I think must be the magnetic switch wire had drifted into a position where it's been pinched tight into the collapsed step. My guess is it's now damaged or severed? I worked a bit on...

    Bounder entry steps stuck retracted

There is a switch by the door. This one had confused me because it seemed the steps extended and retracted regardless of the position of that switch, at least with the engine on. With the engine off, the switch off allowed us to leave the steps extended for the weekend without retracting when...

    Bounder entry steps stuck retracted

We just had our first successful camping excursion using our new (to us) 2014 Bounder. Everything went well except that when we arrived back home, our entry step decided not to extend. Did some quick searching around and learned that there are fuses for the step switch and motor in the battery...

2-yr-old used RV; sanitize fresh tank? gray is full!

Sounds like a wise plan -- thanks!

2-yr-old used RV; sanitize fresh tank? gray is full!

Yes, I took care of piping everywhere, running each faucet one at a time. I actually did all that twice. And I guess I wasted a bunch of water -- oops. Really didn't want to have bleach smell/taste in the water as we start drinking/cooking from out of that plumbing on Friday night. Jeff

2-yr-old used RV; sanitize fresh tank? gray is full!

One more question on this. I've sanitized the tank and am currently filling up for my 2nd flush-out. After this point, is it better to keep the tank full, empty, or somewhere in between? For camping this weekend we'll have city water available, so no need to keep the tank full. And we probably...

2-yr-old used RV; sanitize fresh tank? gray is full!

The tank levels are all exactly the same as they were at the dealer when I noticed they were not empty and asked the dealer to empty them, so I don't think it's a case of the sensors being clouded, but it could be (and they've been gunked up with stuff the whole time). I think they just didn't...

2-yr-old used RV; sanitize fresh tank? gray is full!

It looks like the tanks in our RV weren't dumped by the dealer even though they said they would be; in our excitement to pick up our new rig this weekend we didn't re-check the tank levels until we got all the way home (2 hours away). The gray tank shows full, the fresh water tank shows 1/2...

newbie with a fridge question - dometic rm1350

Thanks for the replies. It cooled down with no issues; just took a long time because I started it empty and the fridge side of the RV was facing the sun.

newbie with a fridge question - dometic rm1350

We just picked up our first RV yesterday - 2014 Fleetwood Bounder 33C. It has a Dometic RM1350 propane/electric fridge. Looks like the fridge was switched off for our delivery, so now that we have the rig parked here at home we were trying to get it fired back up this morning. I've turned the...
