I'm thinking that you exactly right and this is the way it's supposed to work but never has. This year I must have the right amount of air in the HW tank. Previous years (with the instant pump running when water was turned on) it was actually a bit annoying and yes, water would drip past the...
Well I guess it's not that simple after all...
The valve must have been labled right in the first place because I don't get any hot water when it's position that has 'normal' pump behavior. In the other position I get hot water but the tank acts like an expansion chamber. Does this mean that...
After all that you were right . the bypass was mislabeled and in the wrong position... I didn't realize that the valve in the wrong position would affect both hot and cold.
All is normal. KISS principle should always apply,!
Thanks again!
This was very helpful. I checked the valve and it was correct so to test I moved it to bypass again and the pump functioned normally for cold water. This confirms a check valve problem because the hot water tank is acting like an expansion chamber like you said. Last year I replaced the upper...
On my 1999 Itasca Spirit the water pump used to run almost immediately after a faucet was turned on. Now it seems there is a wider range of pressure tolerance because the pump doesn't turn on immediately and when it does, it runs a long time. The pump seems to be losing it's strength. Is...
I'm not sure which converter is in it. It's a 1999 24' Itasca Spirit. If that used the old style of converter/charger would it be best to unplug the shore power and just pulg it in for a couple days every month or so?
Just curious what the best method is to leave my two new 12v RV batteries this winter. Keep in mind I'm in Vancouver which rarely even goes below zero ?c. Right now I have them in the RV with the coach plugged in to shore power. Is it OK for the onboard charger to take care of them or should...
Thanks a lot for all of the responses! I haven't pulled it/them out yet but am fairly sure that the top one has failed and will need replacing. Thanks for the link too. I wish I had posted here before I sent 3 gallons of antifreeze out the water heater...
Thanks for the replies! Yea, that schematic is a treat.
All three valves in the first picture have a 'T' that goes downward for a drain. I never thought about the city water line so that must explain one of them. The other is the main tank drain and the third must be some kind of line...
The water heater bypass valve is not sending water overboard. It was the other two line valves which I have figured out however the one valve (see pic) sends water back into the heater and can only be open (in line) or over board (the other way in line) and not closed. In the one pic all three...
I have a '99 Itasca Spirit and started what I thought would be a simple job of winterizing.
After draining the water tank and water heater I hooked up the anitfreeze line and opened that valve. It seems that is about the only valve that's easy to know if it's open or closed. I have lost...
Thanks for the replies!
That Lichtsinn link had exactly what I needed at a good price. And much more that I will order... Their parts site is going to be deadly on my VISA in the end!

We recently bought a '99 Itasca Spirit that has seen some hot days. The plastic finishing trim on the ends of each inside panel are cracked as are the plastic corner moldings around the counter top, etc. Where would a guy buy rolls of these kinds of trim?
Thanks!
