That 'brake shake' may be nothing more than the rust that builds up on the brake rotor directly beneath the pads, when it hasn't been used for some time. Turning them down or replacement should do the trick and isn't very expensive. Throw on new pads right away.

Just a note: Many batteries are made with soft plastic sides that will bulge normally. Trojan Deep Cycle is a good example. They always appear to be bulging out, and I think many others do also.

  Makes no difference - if your converter isn't putting out enough 12VDC to charge the battery, it won't crank over the generator. Make sure it isn't turned off or unplugged somewhere.

Be careful when choosing an oven stone. Many tiles, both glazed and unglazed, will leach out harmful quantities of lead when heated.

It's possible that the heaters are thermostatically controlled at some set temperature like 35 or 40 degrees, and they won't come on until it gets cooler. You're just trying to keep the freeze off; not make hot toddies ;) There may also be a separate circuit breaker in your distribution box that...
