    Depreciation

A friend of mine put depreciation into perspective nicely for me.  You need to think about it as rent.  So if you could live cheaper than $8K annually for example in an apartment then you've lost some money but if you couldn't you are ahead of the game.  The difference should be balanced against...

    Help choosing the right Rig.

I completely agree with Gary...and I absolutely stood in the shower prior to buying.  If your purchasing something for recreation and it's not exactly what you want  not nearly as big of a deal as being unhappy in your full time living space.

    5th wheels and generators

WE definitely wanted a generator and looked at installing one after market, but it turned out it was cheaper to order the camper we wanted and have the generator factory installed.  This also allowed me to had some other features such as double paned windows, wooden blinds, and a downsize to a...

Has anyone added a computer desk?

We are in a front living room model.  WE removed one of the couches and my husband built a desk from a custom cut piece of counter top from home depot and filing cabinets from staples with customer wood fronts placed on them.

    6 Month plan

First I love that you have a plan.  I have two good friends that are full timing and working as nurses on the road.  It was a bit tougher than they expected to find work initially but once they built up some contacts it got easier.  Best advice have a nice cushion of cash to get started with so...

    Advice for going Seasonal??

There are pros and cons to seasonal in my opinion.  We stayed a whole season while we were selling our house and although it worked great for that purpose for us overall I would have preferred moving around.  I recommend trying it but maybe for just a month or two instead of the whole season. ...

    A question, Not a statement

Since I don't travel with a dog I don't really pay attention so the answer would be yes but probably inadvertently.  I did stay in a place once that had a pets and no pets section which kind of put me off.  I enjoy other peoples dogs and talking to folks as they walk them.  It may have been a...

    Black tank release valve problem

We had a similar issue where the black tank release valve actually broke off in my hand.  The cable was under the cover and my husband didn't feel long term it would work well for us.  He had a service tech install electronic switches and they work great. The broken handle was covered under...

    Securing dining area chairs

My husband installed small hooks in the floor and then has two ratchet straps that we use to secure the chairs and table.  He hooks them diagonally from the table to the floor and then tightens them.  Works great they barely move, but to be honest the ratchet straps kind of freak me out.  I...

Travelling through cities and unhooking question

We joined PassPort America and for around $17 a night we can get a campground that is central enough to use as a jumping off point to see the local area.  The campgrounds aren't great but they serve the purpose of giving us a home base without breaking the bank.

Vagabonding in New England states this Summer

Having lived in New England for 13 years I will tell you that you need to do some planning.  First off there are many many side roads with low bridges or covered bridges that you cannot get a rig through and can easily get stuck.  There isn't a gas station everywhere that will take a rig like in...

Is is worth the weight to put a washer and dryer in your 5th wheel?

We love ours although we have had some technical difficulties.  Our first unit never worked right, was replaced by the dealer with a second unit which lasted 4 months and now the control board is fried.  Luckily still under warranty and we are getting it repaired by Splendide.  So I have...

New Full Timers new to the forum

Hi all, My husband Lee and I are new full timers (we started in November 2014) and this forum was recommended by a friend of mine.  We have been married 25 years, have three grown children, and are 48 and 46 years old.  We are not in a financial position to retire so we are both working from...
