    towing with F150

That is true about the HDPP F-150 Trucks.  I have a 2018 HDPP, S.Crew, XLT, 3.5 EB, 6.5 bed 4x4, and it tows my 37ft, 8,400lbs dry trailer with ease and comfort, and passing semis are a non event, even with full tanks.  My limit regarding wind is 30mph, and partially due to semis being pushed...

    F150 with 3.5 ecoboost or Ram 1500 ?

I have a 2018 HDPP, XLT, 3.5 EB, S.Crew, 4x4 6.5 bed with 11,500lbs towing, 2475lbs payload, 1,320lbs hitch ratings... all actual ratings. My TT is a 2017 Keystone Laredo 330 RL, yellow door sticker 8,400lbs dry (second a/c), 9,900lbs max, 37ft long, and a 1,075 hitch (more likely 1,200lbs...

    newbie tow questions-

Ha!! I'm actually towing 9,000 plus pounds, 37 ft. TT  with a HDPP F-150,  and I have ~1,000lbs of payload to spare. The setup tows and handles stable and secure out on the highway , and no sway, push/pull from cars or big rigs.

    Sorry New Guy Question

I'm betting he has a Tundra, because that is the tow rating of SR5 double cab. He didn't mention anything regarding a family,  and I didn't consider a wife and a big family, and I didn't want to give him an imaginary wife and kids. I'd would only tow a small 5th with a HDPP or Silverado with...

    Sorry New Guy Question

Why would anyone try to load over 3,500 pounds on that light trailer when they know they don't have a truck to tow the maximum weight. That trailer will likely be over the dry weight, but not that much over it, and the proper 1/2 has the capacity, but he just won't be able to load it up near...

    Sorry New Guy Question

It can be towed by a 1/2, but only the ones within the ratings.  The Tundra SR5 double cab V8, Silverado with the Max Trailing package will handle it just fine with payload to spare , and the F150 with the  heavy duty payload package is another truck. A 3/4 isn't needed unless you just want...

Tahoe towing a 33' trailer with GVW 8000lbs

You never answered his question. Why not just answer his questions, and if he is within ratings, offer advice about what he can do to enhance his towing experience, because there are things he can do to increase the stability of towing that trailer with a Tahoe.

Tahoe towing a 33' trailer with GVW 8000lbs

My advice, be very skeptical about placing weight on advice about how someone with an unknown year, unknown payload and tow rating  Tahoe struggled or couldn't tow some unknown weight trailer, because that is a setup to scare you, and then they will try to push you into a very large truck, but...

    Honda ridgeline towing

Others say ignore the dry weight,  but the dry weight was important to me, and I based the purchase of my truck with dry weight as a baseline, and the gvwr as the weight only as a reference point if the maximum trailer weight was the weight I was planning to tow with all tanks full, or whether...

    Ordered a New Truck

I'm not a truck guy period, and like a drill or hammer, I look at trucks as a tool to do something that it is designed to do, and when I don't need it, I don't want to use it. I will be towing a 37ft TT, 9,900lbs max, but I will be closer to the 8,300lbs dry than to the 9,900lbs max. I'm well...

Great advice for who want to tow

The max carrying capacity on the trailer is 9,800lbs, and the truck has a max tow of 11,700, and  approximately 2,500 actual payload...more than enough capacity. No need for a for a larger truck for this trailer, and if I needed to tow a 1 ton load in the 15,000lbs range and up, I would get a 1...

Great advice for who want to tow

That is a lot of towing experience, and knowledge. Of all the experiences and towing knowledge you have accumulated over the years, share your personal experiences and knowledge regarding the 2015 or newer F-150 with the heavy duty payload package with it's 11,500 lbs towing, 2500 lbs payload ...

Great advice for who want to tow

Well, Corky, if you think about, you have read like I read that many of the responses to newbies have been that for a certain length TT pushing 30ft or so, with a weight of 5,000 - 6,000lbs, the prevailing sentiments has been that it is unsafe, risking poor towing experiences, maxing out the...

Great advice for who want to tow

I don't think you interpreted what I was saying correctly. I said I was lurking for two years as I was gaining knowledge while trying to determine whether the truck I was looking at would tow the trailer I wanted to purchase.  I never asked anyone for any advice, but I read from other's...

    Towing with Tundra 1794 Edition

That version has the least amount of payload and towing ratings, and shouldn't be the model chosen if you have plans for serious towing.  The double Cab SR5 5.7 V8 is the sweet spot for serious towing with the Tundra.  You have 1,440lbs of payload, so you are short of payload capacity on that...
