My Onan generator manual suggests exercising the generator for 2 hours once a month under 50% load.
Copied from the manual:
"Exercise the genset at least 2 hours each month if use is infrequent. Run the genset at approximately 1/2 rated power. See LOADING THE GENSET (Page 2-2). A single two...
#1 - Note to self when adding a locking gas cap to RV immediately put the gas cap keys on the ignition key rings.
After the gas cap key fiasco where I had to drive home to get the cap key the tank took 51.2 gallons after letting the nozzle click off a second time. So that left me with 3.8...
I understand about filling it up and subtracting that from 55. The low fuel light caught be by complete surprise. The fuel gauge was on the 1/4 mark and next thing I knew the low fuel light was on and the gauge needle was just above Empty. I figure this RV averages 9 mpg so my hope is I have...
Gasoline powered E450 V10 with a 55 gallon tank. The only thing the Ford owners manual says is "refuel as soon as possible".
Also somewhere I remember the gasoline fueled generator will not run when the tank drops below 1/4 tank?
Thanks!
Would you stick with the Ford Motorcraft FL-820-S or some other personal brand favorite?
For the oil SAE 5W-30 full synthetic.
When I start the RV I always drive it at least 10-15 miles so everything gets fully warmed up.
Thanks for the advice.
One thing that blows my mind is the owners manual indicates the 6.8L V10 415 cu. in. engine oil with oil filter capacity is 6.0 quarts. My 2005 Wrangler 4.0L I6 242 cu. in. oil capacity with filter is also 6.0 quarts.
I haven't DIY oil change in years. Raising this...
Our 2020 Class C E450 has 4,000 miles on it. The dealer told me they changed the oil & filter when we bought it with 3,000 miles on it September 2021. I didn't ask for proof when we bought it. The Ford owners manual tells us to change the oil & filter every 7,500 miles. I don't see a...
Okay I removed the screen and pushed the check valve. A small amount of clear water spurted out then stopped. I made several more attempts and each time I released a small amount of pressurized liquid mist - possibly the antifreeze but not enough to be certain. The pump was on. I'm not...
Hey Dan_Frisbie if I was in a sunny paradise like Pensacola Florida I wouldn't winterize. Sadly here on the NC coast the daytime highs are in the low twenties with single digit wind-chill right now. Murphy's Law rules here. Come on somebody send us some snow!
Our filter assembly is mounted high up where all I see is the clear filter canister. I can't see the mounting plate and I couldn't blindly feel a bypass valve. Larry N I'm going to order that bypass plate. I rather spend the money on the antifreeze than risk Murphy's Law where I'll have a...
We winterized today for our first time. We pumped antifreeze from its bottle using the siphon hose at the water pump. The water filter housing filled then fed antifreeze though the water system. Now we have the filter housing filled with antifreeze. Looks to me like a waste of 1/2 gallon...
Kirk yeah I need to pick up a set of jumper cables. My problem is I don't like asking for help. That's why the jump box is a good idea for someone like myself.
I went out to start our MH and found the battery dead. I'm guessing the battery was 2 years old at the time. Lucky it was parked...
Our Class C is powered by a Ford V10. I’m looking for recommendations for a jump box that does not have unnecessary capabilities like a radio, etc.
Thanks!
