We have the 5.3L V8 and usually get about 14-15 mpg driving around town.  While driving this past weekend DH stayed around 60, and he did put it on cruise.  We did notice that when it was working to get up the more hilly part of the turnpike, the cruise control stepped down on the gas to get up...
