Don't take I-80 in CA mtns any time soon.

Yeah, they're both still there. Employees (at least my sons) don't get evacuated for weather events. One of them works in the employee housing office, and he worked every day even during the Covid shutdown in '20. The other boy works for the NPS on the water systems, so he stays busy too. I'll...

That's exactly the same as the store I worked at. Sign was the more modern version with the number sold on the sign.

    Camp chairs

I have a pair of these with the only difference being mine are all one color. The pair ride perfectly in the back seat of my Wrangler when I'm traveling. I got them in '18 and they're still comfortable and holding up well.

    Acceleration issue

When I worked on motor homes at a Chevy dealer, we'd add that same pump to the carb'ed motor homes. The stock mechanical pump on the 454 used to have a problem sucking fuel from 30' away from the tank. Especially trying to maintain freeway speeds up a grade.

The last job I had before I went in the AF ('71) was as a grill man at a McDonalds. The old McDonalds, with the red and white tile building with giant yellow arches and no inside seating. All burgers were cooked by hand, on a big flat top. The Big Mac was 6 months old (and a PITA to assemble...

    The Unofficial Motorcycle Thread!

My first ride on a chopped bike was a '67 Triumph. Not a foot clutch, but the first time I'd ridden a right shift bike (not to mention 10" over front end, hard tail rear). The first stop sign I came to was a fun experience. Later on, when I built my Sporty, I had the choice to make it shift on...

Cover for Class C Motor Home.

I remember back in the day when RV fridges came with a pin on a chain to hold the door shut during travel that there was a second hole in the bracket to hold the door partially open during periods of storage to keep mold from growing.

    Where Next from here?

I have my wife's hiking stick which was gifted to her by her sister-in-law. She got it in Japan when climbing Mt. Fuji. I also have one that I made out of a sahuaro cactus rib I found in the desert near Quartzsite.

Use of Electric Bikes by RVers

We had a camper in the campground a couple of months ago. HIs kid had a fat tire version of an electric stand-on scooter. Looked pretty fun, but at my advanced age and weight, I'll stick to the motorcycle.

I've also seen the term used to describe, uh, ladies of the evening shall we say.

The Desert Bar near Parker serves a killer version of garlic fries. I usually stop in the area on my way through so I can hit there and also a Mexican place I like in Parker.

    I Need a Compressor

You're not doing it right. One of my sons, who works in Yosemite came over the pass last week for a last visit before I head back east. I talked him into crawling under the coach to change the oil and grease it with the gun I carry. I then loaned him the grease gun since I won't need it again...

    The Unofficial Motorcycle Thread!

I watch the YouTube channel called Bikes and Beards. The owner of the channel is good friends with Dale's son, who now runs Wheels Through Time. He's filmed several episodes at the museum, including the latest one where he bought the famous Road Dog motorcycle at an auction. Had it shipped to...

Winterize your RV yourself and Save

I assumed the fill line from the city water port, not the gravity fill port. The gravity fill port would drain itself naturally because of, well, gravity. My city water inlet splices into the plumbing between the pump and the rest of the coach, so the pump pressurizes the fill line when it...

    Do you trust campground water?

The 14 campgrounds I manage operate off of 9 different well systems. They are tested at the start of the season and also at the 1st of each month throughout the season (part of my job). I always leave at the end of the season carrying 100 gallons of fresh Sierra well water. Wish there was a...
