    RVing with pets

We have a Mini-Dachshund who travels with us and 3 other dogs who stay at home.  We have to have a caretaker for the other animals we have at home so they just check on the other dogs also. We leave the A/C or heater on for her while we are away. We also close the blinds and leave the TV on...

    Pilgram International RV's?

I have read in recent weeks this company has gone out of business. Friends of mine have a Pilgrim 5er and they are very happy with it.  Sorry I couldn't be of more help. If I find out any more information I will be sure to let you know.

    rv etiquette

We usually go to local COE campgrounds and I have honestly never had anyone walk through my site in those campgrounds.  I think I would be extremely upset if that did happen though. I don't understand the mentality of someone who would do this. We live on a farm and I would equate walking...

travel trailers with a rear kitchen

Our old TT had a rear kitchen and the only thing that would not stay put was the sink cover. Our first trip out I left it on the sink like you would normally and when we got to our destination it was in the bedroom. LOL Luckily it did not cause any damage. From then on it was put inside the sink...

    FW Tow Vehicle

The tow rating according to my Owners Manual(mine is a 2000 F250 with the 7.3 and 3.73 gears) is 10,000lbs with 11,200lb towing capacity for a gooseneck or Fifth Wheel. Mine is a CC 4X4 SWB which adds alot of weight but mine weighs 7400-7500 lbs empty and that is a scaled weight from 2 separate...

    Sway bar

Along with what CarlL said. Another veteran also suggested to me that moving to the right while staying in your lane and slightly accelerating helps alleviate some of the push/pull you feel from rigs moving faster than you are. Of course I am not referring to sway at all just the "bow wave"...

    Trailer vs. 5th wheel?

We tow both a TT and gooseneck stock trailers. I (the wife) drag both of them around.  I find that both back and tow well, just different. We have a Reese HP Dual Cam set-up on our TT and it is a world of difference in towing with it and our old TT which had the WDH with one friction anti-sway...

    Sliding Doors

Are you referring to the sliding doors on the outside or the "pocket" type doors on the inside? If you are referring to outside sliding doors, friends of ours have a Keystone Sprinter TT with sliding glass doors. They do have problems periodically with the doors.  Leaking, coming off the track...

    What was your 1st rv

We also started in a tent which was borrowed.  After being caught in a horrifying thunderstorm with 2 kids under 5 in there with us we bought our first TT, a 74 Travelmate.  The only working things in the whole thing was the AC, lights and one stove burner. We thought we were somethin' else. LOL

About to buy a new fifth wheel and wanting to know what is a must have?

Hi Rachel I really like the FPs with the bunks up front too. I don't have but two children but one of them is 6' and 200+ pounds. One of the major things we thought was a requirement when looking for our new TT was more space in the living area. Inevitably when we go anywhere it is going to...

    Jayco 322 FKS

We do not have that floorplan but I have been really impressed with our new Jayflight. Ours is an 07 but was built in May of 07 as a new floorplan so it has the same interior as the 08s.  Ours doesn't have the electric awning or the flatscreen TV. One of the major things I have noticed on Jaycos...

Hints, Tricks and Gadgets/Tools --- small ones.

When we don't have full hook-ups I keep a dishpan in the sink to wash dishes then dump the dirty dish water into the black tank. Puts more water into the black tank and keeps the gray from filling so fast.  Another way to keep from filling the gray so fast is to wash dishes outside(IF...

    GVWR and Pin Weight

The weight I gave in my initial post is the weight of the truck with me (170lbs), #1 DS (200lbs), 1/2 tank of fuel.  I thought the scales were wrong so I weighed at a different scale and with me, tool bag and various small things in the truck it weighed 7500. So using that number add the...
