    Road Life to Alaska

LOL Betty!!!  Yep, the memory thing sure makes a blog/journal a valuable thing to do.  Already I don't remember everything we did!!

    Road Life to Alaska

Time Flies! Haines to Skagway, then down to Hyder, home of the bears.  Fish fear them.  Fish Creek in Hyder was full of salmon and Jaws the bear was out to play catch.  Glacier highway was stunning, and then it's a beautiful drive down to the USA.  We cross the border tomorrow into Washington. ...

    North To Alaska

You are SO BRAVE!  What a rafting trip!  (not on my bucket list ;-) lol)  We liked Fairbanks and could have stayed longer there was so much to do and see. We are waving at you as we leave Skagway for Hyder today.  Hope you enjoy your Arctic Circle quest - can't wait to read about it.  I'm...

    ALASKA- "Just the facts, Ma'am"

Thanks for your blog Sarge - it was one we followed closely as we traveled through.  Lots of info, humor, and good writing.  Well done.  Can't believe it is almost over.

    Road Life to Alaska

We stayed at Oceanview RV park in Haines - their Saturday night dungeness crab feed and potluck was really really good.  We loved Haines too.  We are in Skagway now - in the overflow section of Pullen RV park in the parking lot facing the harbor and cruise ships.  Almost all the shops and...

    ALASKA- "Just the facts, Ma'am"

We stayed at the Cottonwood campground with the bears on the way in!  So I wasn't surprised to read about the man and his poodle and the bear.  We opted to boondock in one of the large "rest areas" on the side of the highway on the way back.  We enjoyed that a lot more than the little campground...

    Road Life to Alaska

Nobody told me how exhausting a trip to ALASKA can be!  There is so much to do and see.  We headed up to Fairbanks which has loads to see and do and then took a three day jaunt to the Arctic Circle in Bettles, Ak of Ice Road Truckers fame.  Then Back down to Fairbanks, passing by North Pole to...

Thanks for the Heads-UP on the Bear-Paw Festival in Eagle River.  We had a blast.  It was huge.  Lots of rides, booths, games, food, doggies, and fun

    Road Life to Alaska

We are at Fort Richardson's Black Spruce campground by Anchorage.  This is the first time we have opted to stay on base (DH is DAV) and it really is quite nice.  It was a little bit odd this morning to look out the window and see a black bear foraging in the woods.  I wonder what rank he held? ...

Where to Snowbird? Location in Texas or Arizona with amenities?

Thanks! If we decide we like a "resort" for a rest stop, we will check this one out when we go southwest in late spring.

Where to Snowbird? Location in Texas or Arizona with amenities?

Thanks everyone. After a bit of searching, we are probably going to go with Retama Village in Mission Texas, unless we hear any bad feedback.  Anyone have first-hand knowledge of this park?

    North To Alaska

Marsha - Would you say the trip to Chicken was worth the trouble?  We are thinking about popping up there on the way home, but if it is just another blip on the road maybe not.

Where to Snowbird? Location in Texas or Arizona with amenities?

We are starting to consider our location for the winter.  Florida was very enjoyable this year - we loved it - but would like a spot without alligators or crocodiles in the lakes and rivers.  Or a spot on the beach that allows dogs.  Our Brittany loves to swim.  Would like to find a spot with a...
