Full Time Living 5th Wheel-Which brand? I know the specs I will need

I have a 2015 Grand Design Reflection 27RL with a GMC 3500 diesel SRW tv. Its a great combination and at 10,000 lbs gross weight and 31 ft its easy to tow. I would recommend a one ton vehicle as the price its not that much different. I have taken many trips of a month or more and its probably ok...

    Reliable, light weight fifth Wheel

I have a grand Design Reflection 27RL 5th wheel with a gross weight of 10,000 lbs. The pin weight is 1850 lbs. My TV is a GMC 3500 diesel SRW. I could see towing with a 2500 but not a 150. Grand Design no longer makes this model but has similar 5th wheels. We love it and travel about three...

    Choices to make on a 5th wheel...HELP!?!?!

I did a good bit of research on 5th wheels before I bought mine. I have a 2015 GMC 2500 Duramax with a max pin weight of 2250 lbs. It can tow a 17,000lb. 5th wheel but the pin weight is the limiting factor. I decided to get a 31foot 5th wheel with a gross weight of 10,000lbs. When I weighed it...

    Tires

I agree with a previous commenter that a good tire pressure monitor is probably the best protection if you stay with the Westlakes. I follow the Grand Design discussion pages that frequently discuss Westlake tires which are used on Grand Design 5th wheels. Many people say they have had few...

Hiding a Safe in a Motorhome

The refrigerator or CD jacket idea is the best. Battery powered grinders are now so powerful that they can defeat a safe in a few minutes. There are YouTube videos that show how easy it is to defeat gun safes.

    Which brand of 5th wheel?

I agree with the previous post about Grand Design 5th wheels. The company is making a name for themselves on their terrific customer service. There is a Grand Design Owners forum on the web and also an informative Face Book page for anyone interested in Grand Design products. They were purchased...

    info on new fifthwheel purchase

There is a Grand Design Face Book page that has over 7000 members and lots of discussion about specific models and issues about Grand Design. The site is actually monitored by Grand Design and many individuals have discussed issues and are contacted by service people. I have had a Reflection for...

Newbies looking to join the club

Something for you to consider is that North Carolina requires a Class A drivers license if the vehicle that you drive is over 26,001 pounds. My guess is that almost all class A RV's over 35 feet are in that category. Also my personal experience and advise is to spend some time on this site...

Is There Any Grand Design 5th Wheel Owners Out There?

If you are on FaceBook there is a very active group of Grand Design owners that anyone can join. There are 6700 people on the group and there is lots of discussion on all types of things. I have asked very specific questions and had answers almost immediately. As far as I am concerned, I have...

    Winnebago buys Grand Design RV

I just read that Winnebago has purchased Grand Design RV who makes 5th wheels and travel trailers. It will be interesting to see if the great customer service will be impacted. The original founders and owners will continue to the manage the company.

    Grand Design Reflection - comments

I have a Grand Design Reflection 27RL. The bed that comes with the 5th wheel is inferior and we immediately replaced with a standard queen size bed. No issues with sleeping now. I have had very few issues with my Reflection and would purchase another one. If you are on Facebook take a look at...

Getting the Education Before Taking the Plunge

I retired two years ago and two years before that I was exactly where you are. It was very daunting to think about towing a big fifth wheel but now it is not a problem. My main recommendation is that you take the time to really read this and other forums. There are many folks on this forum that...

    TV Size

I just upgraded my TV in the living area to a 43 inch from a 30 inch. It made a huge difference. TV prices are very low so I would get the biggest that goes in the allowed space.

Yellowstone and Mt. Rushmore in September

We go to Eastern Wyoming to hunt every September/October. The weather is usually great but a few years ago there was a freak blizzard over the Black Hills that dumped 20 inches of snow and killed thousands of cattle the first week of October.. So watch the weather as its pretty unpredictable.

    Western North Carolina park recommendations

We have stayed at Cross Creek RV Park in Maggie Valley NC. Its just off the Blue Ridge Parkway and 30-40 minutes west of Asheville. Both of our visits there were great. The Elk are frequently seen walking nearby.
