    How Important is Wheelbase?

Projecting the pivot point with either the Arrow or my hitch, the ProPride 3P, will take care of wheel base limitations.  Also, these hitches do not rely on tongue weight to control trailer sway.  The tongue weight percentages you read all around the internet ALL assume a conventional ball hitch...

Friction Sway Control - How do you Adjust?

While I CERTAINLY DO NOT recommend them, here are the instructions... ******* 1. SWAY CONTROL CANNOT BE USED ON TRAILERS WITH SURGE BRAKES. DO NOT USE SWAY CONTROL ON CLASS I OR II HITCHES. USE ON CLASS III OR IV ONLY. 2. Trailer loading: Proper trailer loading is your first-line defense...

    Big semi trucks and wind.

The other issue you have here is that the trailer looks like a rear kitchen floor plan.  They can be prone to more trailer sway regardless of the length of the trailer.  They also make it harder to dial in any of the tongue weight dependent sway control systems on the market due to what is...

    Travel Trailer sway control

Just a suggestion, and I'll probably break some forum rules for saying this, but you love the way the fifth wheel tows due to the location of the pivot point.  The pivot point of a travel trailer can be projected to the same location, or 52" forward of the ball, and make the towing just as stable.

    Travel Trailer sway control

It may be extreme from your perspective and I would never advocate driving crazily to get away.  I never said anything about panic.  I said, my family WILL NOT drive along side of, or behind, a towed trailer.  I've never been in a situation where it is too difficult to go by one.  I will...

    Travel Trailer sway control

I have talked to people that have had this experience almost weekly for last 11 years of my life.  Unfortunately, it is all too common. It is the reason that my wife, and now my daughter, have been told to NEVER drive behind or beside a towed trailer.  Don't just hang out doing the speed limit...

    TT vs. 5er Towing

The fifth wheel is more stable due to the location of the pivot point.  Your father-in-law is correct that a fifth wheel is more stable than a TT hitched with a conventional hitch.  However, you don't have to set it up with a conventional hitch. As others have mentioned here, and I have to...

    Sway Bar Advice

There are a lot of variables that make for stable towing.  As mentioned, the tow vehicle and trailer design are two of them.  The hitch set-up, tow speed, roads, traffic, tires on both vehicles, and trailer loading are some of the others. The problem with a stable set-up is that it can quickly...

Sway Problems With TT, Suburban as TV

Yes, its a good idea to follow the weight limits.  However, a heavy tow vehicle, well within its limits, can mask a swaying trailer to the point that the trailer is out of control and not recoverable by the time the sway is realized.  A heavy tow vehicle provides seat-of-the-pants sway...

Sway Problems With TT, Suburban as TV

Yes, the Pull-Rite physically moves the effective pivot point.  The ProPride 3P that I manufacture has an effective pivot point of 55" forward of the ball when a force is applied on the trailer.  Depending on the TV overhang, 55" can actually place the effective pivot point forward of the rear...

Sway Problems With TT, Suburban as TV

Change your pivot point and you'll change your towing stability.  People who buy 5th wheels know this but it never seems to come up when talking about travel trailer stability.

Opinion on Blue Ox - Hitch System

Carl is right on this one.  It is another friction based system.

    Lite weight or Regular trailer

Your truck will tow that trailer just fine.  As EdJunior said, I don't think the gas mileage is really going to be that noticeable between the two.  Do look into a quality sway control hitch.  The added 3 feet can make a dramatic difference in how the trailer handles. The bunkhouses are great...
