I have one of the roll up show curtains that came with my 5W. It works great and does not leak. You only want to make sure not to let it go back on it's own or else it slam closed, just hold it while it rolls closed. I would get another one if and when it is needed.
I also went the way of the air bags. This really helped smooth out my ride. I would think that helper springs would only make matters worse on a rough rode.
My rig weights in at about 18,600lb and I average 10-12 depending on wind and hills. Here in Southern California I stay at 60mph/1900rpm so as not to get a ticket plus that seems like that is where my D/A likes to run. I am in no hurry when I am on the road, to much to see and safety come first...
It is going to be slow going over the Rockies and if you push it you are going to fry your trans. I would try to shed a few hundred pounds. I would hate to see you cook the trans. Are you going with a full tank of water? Another issue is going to be your brakes. If you do pull this full load...
Solar is a good idea, have gone that way myself. It is nice not having to worry about your BATTERIES, if they are charged or not. I went with 12v only because I could not fit the 6v in my battery compartment. Another reason for 12v is if one goes bad you still have power as with the 6v if one...
I have had two Northwoods products. First was a 21' Nash TT 2years, then moved up to an ArticFox 27' 5W 6years. Would I buy another? You bet I would. Fine products never had any issues with either. I may upgrade to a larger 5W at retirement time.
I just purchased the Cordpro XL. I was able to put in 35 ft of 5/8" water house with out a problem. They say you can put in 50 feet of 1/2" water hose.
I have a 3" lift on my D/A with 285/16" tires. My 5w has the springs over the axles along with larger 16" wheels and tires and I can just manage 5 1/2" of bed clearance between the bed and the 5W. I would plan on having to do the same for your 5W if you want to tow it with your truck. Just...
X2 on the Firestone air bags. Just remember that they don't add to your carring capacity they just help support the weight your truck was designed to carry from the factory. They did smooth out the ride for both my truck and trailer along with leveling the truck with the trailer attached.
The LS is just an interior package, basically it comes with cloth seats. If you want the leather seats you have to get the LT package. LS or Lt has nothing to do with the drive train package. The trailer wiring includes wiring for a truck in bed camper and the wiring is located between the cab...
If you don't have shocks on your trailer that would make a big difference. You may also try to add some pin wait and that should help. What I also did was to add air bags to my truck's rear suspension. This last mod really smooths out the ride for both the truck and trailer.
