Wind Speed and Staying off the Road

Why not?  It worked for motorcycle maintenance.  ;)

    Still shopping and feeling discouraged.

My step sister has a technique that works well on such dealers.  She simply tells them that she doesn't know much about such things but that her husband is an attorney and she will let him handle it.  Not only is such treatment unethical but it might even be illegal in some jurisdictions.  If it...

Filling propane tanks, or is there an alternative?

It might if you used it to fire up the grill a lot!  ;)

Things to take along and not take along

Great advice, Ned... as usual.  Older breakers may not work as well as new or newer ones, though, so it is possible to pop an older breaker when pulling almost as much power as the system can handle.  I've seen house electrical breakers that were rated for 15 amps trip when the load was just...

Ah, so.  Now that makes sense.  Not sure why that did not occur to me earlier. Thanks for the clarification.

    Length of Dump Hose

Bill... know what you mean about those old brain cells.  They seem to come and go as they please.  :-\ As to the shower dumping into the black tank, yuck!  I don't see how shower water would be any dirtier than soapy greasy dish water from the kitchen sink, so am thinking that one should pay...

Trying to pick a tow vehicle

I'm with you on this and don't consider this as "paranoia" so much as "wisdom".  :)

5th Wheel Advice / Tips for an experienced newbie!

Truer words have not been spoken.  If I had a buck for every time a dealer told me a 1/2 ton truck would pull a 9k or 10k lb. trailer, I could buy some nice upgrades.  The problem with barely enough truck is not that they can't tow a trailer because they can.  The REAL problems arise when one is...

Clay... your 2004 MH has a carburetor?  I thought that fuel injection pretty much took over the auto world in about 1987 or so.  Interesting. Ed

Newb back from maiden voyage with 2001 NRV Sea Breeze questions

A neighbor of mine has a 34' Bounder class A MH and he uses plastic trash bags as his tire covers.  He slips the bags over the tires from the top, gathers the excess at the bottom, and then uses a bungee cord to snug the bag to the tire.  It seems to work pretty well and is cheap.  Not sure if...

Height of Tow Veh. For Fifth wheel

Maybe it is just me but I would not take that as a sign of great care.  I am sure that the truck is everything you hope it will be but opening the owners manual seems to me to be a sign of an owner who wants to learn about his vehicle and maintain it carefully and in accordance with the factory...

    Length of Dump Hose

I don't quite see how that is possible.  Isn't the toilet the only thing that empties into the black tank?  Shower and sink water should go into the gray water tank.  Are the black and gray water tanks connected somehow?  I didn't think that they were.  If they are, is it possible for the black...

    Whats in your tool bag???

I like the idea of using 3 tool boxes for RVing.  One is for electrical problems, one is for plumbing problems, and one is for general mechanical problems.  Between these, just about any problem can be fixed.  Special items like duct tape, Teflon tape, electrical tape, spray lubricants, bailing...

Newbie here with lots of questions

It is looking like there will be many changes to the tax code in the near future, so planning on this or that deduction might not be the best of ideas. Something that really makes points with DW is that an RV contains its own bathroom... and it isn't one that lots of others have used and messed...

pin weight of 2006 cherokee wolfpack toyhauler 295wp

Donn... if an RVer had access to a truck scale, would putting the pin but not the trailer onto the scale result in a measurement of the pin weight?  If not, then how is it measured?  Just curious. Ed
