Buddy Pole Mounting System for Antennas

Just curious, anyone out there using the Buddy Pole for antennas on your RV's? Might be interesting to hear what you've done. 73's, Deen W4ANR

    Getting RadioActive again

If you have a rear ladder on your RV, you might consider buying a buddy pole mouting system, available in 1.5 and 2 inches. Then use PVC, fiberglass, or aluminum tent poles as a mast system for many antenna types.  The buddy pole system takes seconds to raise and lower your antennas. Hope this...

Ham Radio and drive to Alaska

Communicated on 20meters SSB a few years ago, with a buddy and his family who drove their Class C to Anchorage, Alaska.  Once over the great divide, had poor propagation and heard little out of him until reaching Anchorage.  He had a ham stick on the back roof while camped and an Icom 706...

    HF ANTENNA

Attended the Orlando Hamfest yesterday, and checked out the class A antennas!  Should have taken photos.  Most verticles and screwdriver antennas I saw were mounted on the rear ladders, but some were on poles up front.  I had an idea to use a creation similar to the Tarheel servo motor (theirs...

    Newbie Ham....need antenna(s) advice, please.

Welcome and congratulations on your new ham ticket. A common mobile antenna for 80 thru 6 meters is the Hamstick.  A hamstick costs about $25, but you can find them used at hamfests for around $5 to $10.  Each band requires a different antenna for that band.  For VHF and UHF I use the MFJ 2m...

*Duh* filling the tank for hydraulic levelers

You can also use a length of 1/4 or 3/8 inch hose and drain it out by syphening (sp?).

    Travelling Ham

From Deen, W4ANR, Palmdale, FL: I'm a full timer, QTH at Sabal Palm RV Resort in Palmdale, FL.  Thought I'd present my antenna setup for fixed and portable operations from my Itasca 34 ft. Suncruiser Class A MH.  When travelling or running from hurricanes, I load up enough portable antennas to...

    1990's Itasca/Winnebago Weak Floor Frame

The flooring frame design in the mid 1990's leaves the floor sagging in the middle, on my 1994 Itasca Suncruiser.  The 1990's design did not include a center steel frame piece to hold up the flooring boards, where the edges meet in the middle of the coach.  Result, serious sagging and weakness. ...

    A glimmer of hope....Sunspot cycle 24 emerging...finally

Latest sunspot predictions for the current bottom cycle indicates that it could linger until 2015!  Whoa!  I'm only 61 and had hoped to enjoy 2 or 3 more sunspot cycles.  If the new cycle doesn't emerge soon, I may only get another one or two cycles in before hanging it up!

    A glimmer of hope....Sunspot cycle 24 emerging...finally

Well, the latest sunspot forecast and data could prove that a double dipper low between the old and new cycles could be a fact, jack.  There were in fact two sunspot peaks at the top of cycle 23, so maybe the mirror image theory is happening.  Patiently waiting, waiting, waiting! Meanwhile, 40...

    A glimmer of hope....Sunspot cycle 24 emerging...finally

Regarding the latest numbers on the new sunspot cycle, the actual numbers are way below the projected upswing at this point.  Heard conversation that maybe we're in for a repeat of the flat cycle from the 1500's!  Yikes!  Also there's the mirror image theory that we could be in for a double dip...

    Loose Ceiling Liner

My 1994 Itasca Suncruiser has the same sagging ceiling problem.  It's sagging in every section, after living in hot, Florida summers for 5 years.  My 1988 Chevy Blazer had the same problem after 6 years, the headliner came apart because of the foam sublayer, and spray glue didn't work because of...

    Weapon Carry in RV

In the late 1960's and 1970's deputies carried shotguns in their patrol cars mounted in a very visible, accessible spot.  This certainly sent a clear warning signal to perpetrators of crime.  It was also possible to carry an arsenal of rifles and shotguns in a truck gun rack mounted up against...
