$200K to Spend - Older or Newer?

This coach was advertised last fall in Craig's list, at $180 and was off the list all winter, now it's back. $20k cheaper. that's about 75% of list. If it were a dealer it would be $220k

Aussies planning 12 month USA trip

A couple suggestions; enter the US at Seattle, LA isn't the best place to be buying a coach, shop Craig's list (  http://www.craigslist.org/about/sites  )  coaches, buy from a private party and save. Being here for a year leaves you with lots of options, entering at Seattle you can go north or...

    Downhills with diesels

Our 2002 Dodge /cummins pulled a trailer 157,000 miles. We used the normal wheel brakes just slow it down, and never allow it over heat. You'll be OK. Worst downgrade we did was the let down into Skagway, that is a long steep grade, we stopped at the customs pull out to allow the breaks to cool...

Diesel techies, what'ya mean a diesel has low compression?!

Pac-Brake is nothing more than a exhaust choke. it is an add on after market for the diesels that were not equipped at the factory.

Show me any of the Cummins above that has any thing but a Choke from the factory. The computer driven ISX is the exception

Diesel techies, what'ya mean a diesel has low compression?!

You only need to go look at a Cummins 8.3, none will have any equipment attached to the exhaust system. but you will see a slide valve installed between the turbo and the intake manifold. This acts exactly the same as the throttle valve on any gas engine. Close it, and the intake vacuum goes...

Diesel techies, what'ya mean a diesel has low compression?!

Cummins 8.3 simply chokes the intake like a gas engine, not as effective as a full compression exhaust brake, but much quieter. In theory, the cummins simply draws a vacuum on the intake stroke. as the exhaust brake restricts the exhaust.
