Running on battery power while connected to the shore

Thank you all. The question is now clearly answered for me. I need the experience of combined years to have the best experience of mine. Thanks for clearing it up for me.

Running on battery power while connected to the shore

You miss the point of the question. I am just trying to simulate dry camping. Using the 2 deep cell batteries for what I intended. My charger works just fine. I just feel, after reading many threads saying " my batteries are going dead so soon, I never camp where there is no power". I am asking...

Running on battery power while connected to the shore

I've been full timing now for a month. That's 11 separate camp sites. My batteries (2 group 27 added for extra dry time) have not had any strain on them this whole time. If I were to throw off the breaker for the converter, would that simulate dry camping to the batteries (with a big red note on...

    Inverter intallation question

I just swapped out the inverter for a 700 watt. I'll get the fuse and will probably, for now use a heavy extension cord. Should both + and - be from the battery? Or run ground to the frame?

    Inverter intallation question

The inverter will not be used full load. Mostly I want it to charge cordless drill battery and run my laptop when I'm off shore power. Thanks for the in-line fuse tip. I got that size inverter for the modified sine wave and it was on sale.

    Inverter intallation question

I have a 2000 Watt modified sine wave converter that I have a question about where to get the power from. My trailer is a 21 ft Amerilite. The battery boxes are on the tongue. My thought is to connect directly to the battery terminals rather than tapping into the converter in the trailer. I...

    LED lighting

The only problem is no more room on the tongue. Maybe keep it in the truck bed, but that would mean a charging wire that I would have unhook every time. It might be better just to sell it on craigs list.

    LED lighting

I'll have to ammend my previous statement about ledtrailerlights.com lights. I had ordered from two different suppliers. the first to be delivered was from Ebay...

    More tire questions

The tires are new, so I put them on Craigs list and will install new radials. I am trying to eliminate as many variables as possible. Every little bit to help my mileage and lesson the chance of premature blowout.

    More tire questions

I have been reading a lot of this forum in preperation for full time RVing in my new GulfStream Amerilite 21MB. It seems to be a good quality well built trailer. But I have been seeing a lot of discussion on tires. My travels will take me through the south west. I just checked out the tires on...

    grey/black/fresh water tank question

I just re-read the clean sensor topic in the library. Very interesting.

    Battery location question

I figured as much. Maybe I can bring it along for a spare in the back of the truck (ya, like I need more weight back there).

    LED lighting

I got my first LED replacement from ledtrailerlights.com. It seems they measure lux different than my eye can see. It is a noticeably less bright blue than the yellow incandescent bulb. There are 13 little blue emitting diodes that just can not compare to the one yellow 912 bulb. I'll have to...

    Tire Balancing with Antifreeze?

Here's my two cents. I had a leak in my intake manifold once that pumped a lot of antifreeze into the oil. Within two days I had destroyed the bearing surface of the crank shaft. It just put huge pits into the crank bearing surface. almost destroyed the crank. Now this may be that antifreeze...

Mr. Heater Big Buddy adaptor question

Yep, Mr. Heater called back and explained that with the quick disconnect hose no filter is needed. Low low pressure from that connection so the oil in the tank is not bled into the cat. So now I have an extra filter should I ever hook up to a standard hose.
